Types of foundations

The cost of a sound and durable foundation is about 30% of the cost of the entire structure, so the desire to save even a little money is understandable. If to argue logically, then there are two options for saving - building out low-quality cheap materials or, if conditions permit, to build the most economical type of foundation.
Tiled foundation
A tiled or floating foundation is a fairly rigid structure consisting of a single solid plate that completely covers the area of the base of the structure. The main advantage of the tile foundation is that such a plate instantly aligns all the bumps and pits of the ground and prevent both vertical and horizontal soil movements in the future.

Tape foundation

This type of foundation is relevant for heavy stone, concrete or wooden houses, as well as for houses on several floors or with a large quadrature. Tape foundation is very strong and reliable, but it is necessary to spend a lot of construction materials on its construction, especially if the house is built on a heaving ground.

Column foundation

Today, many developers are still afraid to use the "screw" foundation, because it appeared relatively recently and has not yet managed to gain deserved popularity. When inexperienced builders find out how much the foundation is worth, then they have a completely legitimate question: "Does not the price affect the quality?"In this case, the cost of the foundation is justified by modern technical achievements. At a low cost, this foundation will last for several decades and will faithfully serve your children, grandchildren, and maybe even great-grandchildren.
What are the features of the "screw" foundation? Firstly, the installation of piles will take only 1 day and does not take much effort. With a little experience, you can safely build such a foundation with your own hands. Secondly, it is already clear which foundation is cheaper. Screw piles - environmentally friendly modern material, the production of which does not require a lot of money or resource costs. Thirdly, there is no need to change the terrain, spending extra money on this. Piles can be screwed into any soil and to any height. They are earthquake-proof and reliable, and the service life reaches 200 years.
What to save when laying the foundation
If you have already decided on the type of foundation, it's time to show ingenuity and resourcefulness. When building the foundation, you can use the old proven method - to look for analogues of expensive building materials in the domestic market or the recycled market.
How and from what it is possible to build a cheap foundation:
- Saving on concrete - usually in the construction of foundations concrete B 200 is used. This is a good, extremely durable, but quite expensive concrete. There is absolutely no need for such a high level of strength, so you can safely buy concrete B150, which is much cheaper. Again, the number of floors, the square and the weight of the building box should be taken into account. Brand B150 is quite suitable for the construction of an ordinary two-story house for several rooms.
- Concrete production - why pay someone for what you can do on your own? Bring rubble, sand, ASG, rent a concrete mixer and do as much concrete as you need.
- Width and height of the foundation - usually all foundation projects are done taking into account reinsurance. In other words, they are all typical and do not have a binding to a specific locality. Experienced builders have long been aware that this can significantly save money. Only it is necessary to think this way very carefully, take into account the permissible width of the tape and the length of the foundation, and also to coordinate the project.
- If you decide to save on the workforce, this is not the best idea. By hiring cheap workers, you risk getting a substandard foundation "in a hurry," and the grieving builders will then have to be looked for in all former Soviet republics.
- The fractured foundation is an excellent saving option, if the design of the house allows. For example, a garage is not part of the house as such, so the foundation for it can be laid separately, without connecting to the main one and without spending on this additional building materials.
