Design and function of the
In order to find out which type of reinforcement is better to choose, it is necessary to know its main advantages and operating principle. The cost and design dimensions depend on the diameter of the pipes, the purpose and the material from which the valve is made.
Damper of any type consist of a body and cover, which form a space( working area) in which the shutter is located. The body has two ends, with which the part is connected to the pipeline. These elements can be muff, threaded, as well as for welding. The structure of the body contains ledges called saddles. When the valve is closed, the sealing parts of the closure are pressed against the seats, preventing the liquid from overcoming the working area.
The element that facilitates the movement of the bolt is called the spindle. The mechanism of moving the spindle on the threaded nut happens:
- by manual
- automated( by means of an electric drive).
For valves of large diameters, valves are used exclusively with an electric motor. This provides additional reliability of the locking system.
Types of valves for water pipes
Wedge
They perform fluid shutdown by means of shutters - discs cone-shaped, adjacent to two seats at an angle. When the flywheel is actuated, the spindle moves the disc, rotating in the thread of the nut. A tight fit of the disc to the protrusions of the housing is due to its wedge shape and sealing surfaces of the closure. This and similar types of valves are used for pipelines transporting water, ammonia, steam, gas, oil products and other substances.
Variety of wedges and their features:
- rigid wedge - has increased tightness, which somewhat complicates the conditions of maintenance and operation of the armature;
- double-disk wedge - a sophisticated design increases the resistance to wear of sealing surfaces, improves sealing and reduces the necessary force to open or close the valve;
- elastic wedge - modified and simplified device allows to work effectively in a wide temperature range, compensated for the deformation of the hull caused by the load on the pipeline.
Parallel
Such latches with their own device differ significantly from those described above. The shutter in them consists of two disks connected by a spacer spring or a wedge. When the armature is inserted into the "closed" position, the discs are pressed against the seats and the flow stops. The main advantage of a parallel valve is its high reliability: the valves close the jet almost perfectly and therefore can work in any temperature mode.
Installation of valves for water supply
There are different ways to connect valves with pipes: flanged, socket, socket and welded. The latter is the most reliable and convenient. Also, separate types of valves have the property of being fixed on pipes without the presence of separate connecting elements.
When installing the shut-off valve, it should be remembered that the valves are installed solely by the flywheels upward, in order to avoid leakage of the hydraulic fluid or gas leakage. It is also necessary to ensure that the flange connection( if any) is performed smoothly and without distortion.
The wide application of valves in water supply systems is explained by the fact that they have a simple design, a small construction length and are easy to operate. Due to the peculiarities of the structure, they are used in a variety of conditions, and also have a small hydraulic resistance, which allows them to work at high speeds of the transported medium.
