Types of radiators. Which is better?

When choosing the devices that will serve to heat the surrounding space in a room, the following requirements are guided:

  • efficiency, from the point of view of providing comfortable temperature in the room( generally accepted standards are 18-20 ° C);
  • pleasant and aesthetic appearance of heating devices;
  • sufficient mechanical strength and ease of use.

To date, the modern market of sanitary products can offer its customers several types of radiators for heating:

  1. Cast-iron batteries, adopted for installation in urban apartments in the last century;
  2. Steel systems for space heating;
  3. Fashionable and lightweight aluminum appliances that can not withstand the pressure of the coolant in the central urban system;
  4. Electric wall and floor devices for warming indoor air;
  5. Bimetal heating radiators.

Types of radiators. Which is better?

Installation of bimetallic heating radiators

The name "bimetal" means that the design of the radiator combines the work of elements made of two different metals. In this case it is steel and aluminum. High-quality alloy steel is able to withstand large atmospheric loads from the movement of hot water through the central heat supply system. It is from it that the inner surface of the double radiator is made. Aluminum, in its turn, has excellent heat-conducting characteristics, therefore, a bimetallic battery body is made of it.

You can also install the instruments yourself, following the instructions of the manufacturer, but it is still better to entrust this work to a specialist.

What you need when installing

When installing a radiator, you should take into account the fact that when connecting the instrument, both right and left threads are used on the connecting nuts. Therefore, it is necessary to stock up with sets of fastening and connecting elements with both types of threads. Before installing batteries from bimetallic sections, they must be assembled using a special radiator wrench.

What you will need to install

The material used for connecting couplings and fittings has great importance in the installation of heating. It can be:

  • tape tape;
  • heat-resistant sealant;
  • Tangite is a thread.

When tightening the connecting thread, it is necessary to apply sufficient force, but do not overdo it so as not to overtighten.

Place radiators at a distance of 5 cm from the walls and up to 20 cm above the floor to ensure a comfortable cleaning under the battery. If the device is placed under the windowsill, there should be approximately 10cm between it and the radiator.

What you will need to install

The body of the new bimetallic radiator is covered with a protective polyethylene sheath during manufacturing to avoid mechanical damages to aluminum. This film must be removed after the installation of heating, and it is desirable, after finishing the repair work in the room where new bimetal radiators are installed.
