How to use textured plaster - the technology of applying
Despite the fact that many people have a certain stereotype that plaster is an extremely unreliable method of wall finishing, in fact, correctly applied composition can last for decades, and even centuries. A striking example is the Egyptian pyramids, in the corridors of which the plaster rests on the walls and ceiling to the present time. True, there is a usual composition, it is somewhat different from the textural one - the technology of application on video, for example, looks also, but the mixture contains additional additives providing coverage with characteristic roughness.
What is the difference between an invoice option? To begin with, this is an inhomogeneous mixture, unlike the usual mass. When applied, you do not need to form the surface relief of the wall, the structure is created using the marble and granite grains included in the mixture. The rest of the components are standard - gypsum, lime or cement as binders and sand, which plays the role of filler.
With this plaster it is possible to create almost any imitation of a relief surface, for example, that of straw or wood, over which the bark beetle worked. In order to finish textured quality, you need only a special roller, you can also use a vacuum cleaner, and sometimes confine yourself to smoothing. In some cases it is sufficient to apply the spraying method, leaving the result of its activity without significant changes.
Applying textured plasters - how to avoid complications?
Before talking about how to do and apply textured plaster, I would like to disclose a few secrets to you so that you do not have to correct the flaws in the course of the work. So, to begin with, internal work with textured plaster. To plaster walls in the room looked organic, and at the same time, their relief did not seem rude, it is best to use uncalibrated granules of fine granularity. In the absence of other options, mixed granularity is allowed, the main thing is that the fractions are not too large.
Be sure to read everything that is written on the package with a dry mixture, because there is often mentioned and the type of primer, most suitable for the composition you purchased.
There are a lot of videos about teaching how to apply textured plaster, video with teaching materials, but, in essence, if you can cover walls with usual cement-sand composition, then you can work with other mixtures. And not only in the premises, but also from the outside of the house. And the external work concerns the next little secret. To ensure that the roughness of the walls is uniform, choose a composition with the calibrated grains of marble and granite. And if you work with large factions, use a steel trowel, but not a roller.
What are the ways of applying textured plaster?
The easiest way for wall finishing is to use special pumping stations, but this technique of applying a textured plaster requires certain financial investments, since the devices need to be bought or leased. You can do with a vacuum cleaner, powerful enough to supply a mixture of mixed fractions under pressure.
In any case, for machining walls use fine-grained formulations, they are obtained the most liquid and therefore are best suited for spraying. There are other ways of applying textured plaster, requiring a certain amount of labor. As mentioned earlier, if there are large grains in the mixture, it is best to work with a steel smoothing iron. The layer of applied mass should not exceed the size of fractions, only in this way it is possible to achieve an appreciable relief of the surface.
Compositions with mixed grains of different sizes can be applied, not only blowing through the plaster nozzle, but also with an ordinary roller, and for the trowel there is an application. A fine-grained solution is also rolled over the surface with a special roller, then it is impossible to work with a smoothing iron because of the excessively liquid consistency.
