Calculation of cement for concrete on a foundation or floor.

How to calculate the consumption of cement based on its brand

It is difficult to underestimate the importance of construction materials such as cement, but its popularity largely depends on brands, among which there are the most and least used. In particular, very often preferred for low-rise private construction brands 300 and 400. Consumption for them is different, for example, a square meter of pouring 10 cm thick will need a 50-kilogram bag of cement M400, and a fifth will remain, but the M300 will require 51kilogram, that is, a bag is not enough. It is logical that this is for a solution of the M150 brand, since 400 and 500 are more often used for M200.

Calculation of cement consumption is usually carried out in cubic meters. Knowing that to get 1 m3 of M300 concrete from M400 cement you need 600 kilograms, we have the calculated amount of the main component of the solution for pouring 10 squares of floor with a 10 centimeter thick screed .It is very important before calculating the consumption of cement, to know the composition of mixtures in exact proportions, for which there are SNiPs, from which all data must be taken. So, according to SP 82-101-98, in order to obtain solutions 150 and 200 using the following grades of material, the following ratio should be observed:

The proportions of sand cement and lime( clay) test for M200 mixture
M500 1: 3: 0.2
M400 1: 25: 0.1
The proportions of cement, sand and lime( clay) dough for the mixture M150
M500 1: 4: 0.3
M400 1: 3: 0.2
M300 1: 2.5: 0.1

How to calculate cement - simple mathematics

Suppose we need a strip foundation, the situation is quite common. We know its parameters, let them be: length 20, width 0.4 and depth 0.5 meters. The solution will be cement-sand in a standard proportion of 1: 3, and not concrete with rubble as a filler, so it was easier to calculate. The volume of the foundation will be 4 cubic meters, for the solution we need so much cement, of course, we do not need it, most of it will be sand and water, which we need no more than 6 shares( so much and take).

So, in solution, we should have a total of 10 parts of components, that 0.1 cube of powder per cube of solution, and for the basement we need 0.4 cube of material. However, in addition to how to calculate the cement in volume ratio, you need to take into account its density, which for the solution given in the example is 3000 kilograms per cubic meter. If we multiply the material volume we need by its density, we get the required mass, that is, 0.4 * 3000 = 1200 kilograms. If the material is packaged in half a centner bags, we need 24 bags.
