Installation of plastic windows with your own hands

If earlier you or your friends used the services of companies for the installation of double-glazed windows, you know that the installation can be ordinary and GOST.The second option is more expensive, but if all the requirements are met, then the quality will be much higher than in the first( more details about the standards can be found in GOST 30971-02).

Installation of plastic windows with their own hands consists of several stages.

Please note! With self-assembly, manufacturers do not give a guarantee in the event that the measurements were not conducted by their employees. If the installation is incorrect, the windows will start freezing soon, and if any slightest mistake has been made in the calculations, the design simply does not enter the opening.

Nevertheless, if you study all the subtleties of the process, then during installation there will be no difficulties. Moreover, so you can save a decent amount of money.

Step 1. Measuring the

In most of the apartments, openings with a quarter are encountered.

Please note! A quarter is an internal frame of 6-centimeter width( or in ¼ of a brick, hence the name), which prevents the loss of the window and reinforces the structure as a whole.

If there is no quarter, then the frame will be installed on the anchors, and the foam will be closed with special racks. Determine the presence of a quarter is quite simple: if the inner and outer width of the frame is different, then a quarter is still there.

1. First determine the width of the opening( the distance between the slopes).It is recommended to remove plaster to make the result more accurate.
2. Further the height( the distance between the slope from the top and the window sill) is measured.

Please note! Measurements should be repeated several times and take the smallest result.

To determine the width of the window from the width of the opening, two mounting gaps are subtracted. To determine the height from the height of the opening, take away the same two gaps plus the height of the profile for the stand.

The symmetry and straightness of the opening are checked, using the mounting level and the plumb line. All defects and irregularities must be indicated in the drawing.

To determine the width of the drainage, add 5 cm for bending to the existing tide. In this case, the width of the insulation and the cladding are taken into account( subject to the subsequent finishing of the facade).

The dimensions of the sill are determined as follows: the width of the opening is given the size of the departure, the width of the frame is subtracted from the received figure. With regard to departure, then it must cover a third of the heating radiator.

Please note! Slopes are measured at the end of the installation.

Stage 2. Order

After the measurements, the finished drawing should be attributed to the manufacturer of the windows, there all the necessary hardware will be selected. It is worth remembering that the installation can be performed in one of two existing ways:

• through the frame in the installation plane;
• by means of a supporting armature, which is equipped during manufacture.
  

  Ordering windows

In the first version, you have to pull the package out of the frame, insert it into the opening and install the glass back. In the second case, the whole structure is attached entirely. There are disadvantages for each option - if you pull out the package, it can be damaged;and vice versa, if the window is put assembled, then it can be damaged because of the large weight.

Stage 3. Preparation of

This stage of installation begins only after the delivery of the ordered windows. First, the workplace is vacated, all furniture is covered with plastic wrap( there will be a lot of dust).

Step 1. If required, a window is extracted from the window. For this, the glazing bead is slightly podped by a staple and pulled out. First of all, vertical beads are removed, then horizontal. They are necessarily numbered, otherwise, after installation, gaps are formed.

Step 2. Then the frame bends slightly and the glass is removed.

glass Step 3. The bolts are unscrewed after the covers have been removed from the canopies. The handle turns into the "ventilation mode"( centered), the window is slightly opened and removed. There remains only a frame with imposts.

Please note! Imposts are special lintels, intended for the partition of the doors.

Then you need to make a marking for the anchors and make holes on it - two on the bottom / top and three on each side. This requires an anchor ø1 cm and a drill of the required diameter.

If the material from which the walls are made is loose( for example, cellular concrete), then fasteners are made using anchor suspensions. The latter should be fixed to the wall and frame by hardened screws( eight pieces each).

Please note! To avoid the formation of a thermal bridge in the window profile, the day before installation, it should be filled with a mounting foam. So the element will not freeze.

Step 4. Disassembly work

This procedure is recommended to be carried out immediately before the installation of a new window. The old ones are thrown out in most cases, so the structure can be pulled out together with the fastener, and, if necessary, saw the frame.

window Step 1. First remove the sealant and thermal insulation.

Step 2. The plaster is then peeled off the slopes. For this, it is better to use a perforator with a suitable nozzle( it is called a "shovel").

Step 3. The window sill is removed, the cement layer under it is peeled off.

Step 4. The adjacent surfaces are treated with a primer( by the way, many installers forget about it).In the case of a wooden aperture, a layer of waterproofing material is laid along the perimeter.

Please note! Installation can be carried out at a temperature of at least -15 ° C.Mounting foam must be frost-resistant.

Step 5. Installing a plastic window

Step 1. First, wooden wedges are placed around the entire perimeter, a window is installed on them( this will make it easier to align the structure), only then it is fixed to the wall. Substrates can be left - they will serve as additional fasteners.

The absence of a stand profile can be considered a gross violation of the GOST standards, since it is not only necessary for stability, but also makes it possible to install a tide with a window sill. In the absence of a profile, they are attached directly to the frame, which breaks its tightness.

window installation Step 3. Next we check the flatness of the window in three planes, using the mounting level and the plumb line. Characteristically, traditional bubble levels are not suitable for this because of insufficient measurement accuracy, so it is better to use a laser.

Step 4. If the window has risen smoothly, then it is fixed with anchors. For this, a hole is drilled in the structure through pre-prepared holes in the structure( approximately 6-10 cm).The bottom anchors are fixed( not permanently), the flatness of the package is checked again, after which the remaining points are fixed.

Please note! The final screed is made only after the final inspection. Do not tighten too much, otherwise the design will "skew".

Stage 6. Drainage

Outside of the profile frame, the tide is attached to the profile profile. The joints are carefully sealed with sealant to prevent penetration of moisture into the structure.

Please note! Before installation, the bottom slot is also sealed.

The lower part of the ebb is recommended to be glued with a strip of noise-proof material( for example, "Linoterm") or to form a "cushion" from the mounting foam - this will reduce the sound from the rain.

Step 7. Assembling the

After attaching the anchors, the glass unit is inserted back.

Step 1. The glass is inserted and fixed with glazing beads( the latter should snap, for which you can slightly tap them with a rubber mallet).

Step 2. The flaps are opened, the tightness is checked. In the open position, an arbitrary opening / closing of the leaf can not happen if the window is set exactly.

Step 3. The seam is sealed on either side. Polyurethane foam will provide high-quality waterproofing and prevent fogging of glass. Before and after sealing, seams are sprayed with water to improve polymerization.

Please note! Stitches are filled no more than on 90%, otherwise the design "will lead".If everything is done correctly, after drying the foam will come out a few centimeters.

Step 4. The perimeter of the window is glued with a special vapor barrier tape, with a material with a foil surface at the bottom.

Step 8. Installation of the

window sill installation Step 1. The window sill is cut in such a way that it enters the opening and at the same time rests against the lining profile. There remains a small gap( of the order of 1 cm) for thermal expansion. In the future, the gap is hidden by plastic slopes.

Step 2. Wooden wedges are laid under the window sill. It should be laid with a slight slope towards the room, then apply something heavy for a while, until the foam dries. Additionally, the sill can be fixed with anchor plates.
