The construction of a garden gazebo will be cheaper,if you immediately carefully think through all the details. The main parameters are the dimensions of the arbor, its shape, the type of foundation and roof, materials for the erection of walls. The size of the building depends on the number of residents and planned guests. There is no sense in constructing a large area for 2-3 people, in this case it is better to choose a 2x2 m construction.

The form of the gazebo depends on the level of complexity of its installation. The simplest buildings are rectangular, but round or hexagonal require more skill and time for construction. If there is no experience at all, it is not worthwhile to undertake immediately for erecting such a structure.

The foundation for a gazebo can be columnar, ribbon or slab. The cheapest option - columnar, besides it is easiest to put. Tape foundation is widely used for small as well as large buildings, but it is practically not used for round gazebos. The base of the monolithic slab is ideal for any gazebo, but the larger the area, the more expensive the slab foundation is.

Roofs on garden arbors are one-pitch, gable, pyramidal, in the form of a tent. The most budgetary and easy to install is a single-pitched roof. It is suitable for buildings of rectangular shape, as well as gable. Cone-shaped and pyramidal roofs are installed on hexagonal and round arbors.

Materials for construction use a variety of: brick, stone, timber, logs, polycarbonate sheets, metal pipes, wrought iron bars, and individual craftsmen collect gazebos, even from bottles. The easiest way to build from a bar and metal racks;The assembly of the frame is performed in a matter of hours, the cladding also does not take much time. With logs, it's a little more difficult to work, because you need to cut them right and connect them. To lay out the walls of stone and bricks, it is desirable to have the appropriate skills, otherwise the masonry will turn out to be sloppy and unattractive.

Choose an even open garden area and make a marking. To do this, determine the location of one of the corners of the arbor and mark it with a peg. Measure the distance to the other corners, put the beacons, pull the twine between them. In the resulting rectangle, the diagonals are measured: if they are of equal length, the marking is done correctly.
Preparation of foundation pit
Backfilling and sand tamping
Using a shovel, select the soil to a depth of approximately 25-30 cm, level the bottom, carefully compact it. The walls of the excavation must be strictly vertical. Then pour the coarse-grained sand layer of 10 cm, it is well leveled and moistened abundantly for compaction. On the perimeter display a timbering of boards up to 10 cm high, strengthen it with a bar.

More about the foundation of the gazebo
How to make a foundation for a gazebo?- this question sets itself almost every beginner builder. We wrote a detailed article on the step-by-step phase of building a foundation.
In addition, we offer you to read an article about the step-by-step technology of erecting a gazebo out of wood, a link to an article.
The pit is spread with large flat stones or covered almost to the top with large rubble. At the corners of the perimeter between the stones are driven into pieces of reinforcing bars;The rods must be raised above the finished foundation for a minimum of 10 cm. Prepare the concrete mortar and fill the pit. The surface is leveled with a rule or smoothed with a trowel.
Foundation
Installation of the frame
For the frame take 4 beams 100x100 mm and trim the height of the gazebo. The front bars are left 15-20 cm longer than the rear ones to make the roof slope. After this, the supports are well treated with a primer and dried. In the lower end of each support a small hole is drilled along the diameter of the reinforcing bars, which protrude from the concrete at the corners of the base. They put the bars on the rods, set them vertically with the help of a level, and additionally strengthened with metal plates and anchor bolts.
Frame made of timber
After installation, the side supports are connected with each other by boards 50x150 mm, and then they are assembled for the rafters. At a height of 10 cm and 0.5 m from the floor, the posts are connected by horizontal bridges of a bar 50x50 mm. Between the crosspieces fix vertical bars with a step of 40 cm. The doorway is left free. All fastenings are carried out with the help of bolts and steel corners, which are screwed to the wood with self-tapping screws.

Roof of the pergola
On the boards connecting the support beams, logs are packed in 30 cm increments. On the top the logs are lined with an edging board 30x150 mm. Between the boards leave gaps in width from 5 to 15 cm. Of course, all elements of the roof must be treated with an antiseptic primer and well dried. From the top of the board you can cover with pergamon and fix it with stapler staples. Over the film, thin slats are stuffed, so that there is an air gap between the roofing and the film. Slats are laid on the slats and fixed with nails of 120 mm with galvanized hats.
Decorating the pergola
Painting the pergola
After installing the frame and the roof, all the wooden surfaces must be painted. When the paint dries, a wooden table and benches along the walls are placed inside the arbor. From the house to the gazebo conduct electricity, hang a light bulb or lamp. To give room comfort, you can hang the walls with a dense light cloth. The interior is completely dependent on the taste and capabilities of the owners of the house.
This version of the gazebo is basic. If you want, you can improve the design: install wooden beams between the beams, trim the walls with a lining or waterproof plywood, lay on the concrete base of the lag and make a wooden floor. Instead of the beams for the frame, you can take the metal pipes, and replace the slate with polycarbonate or soft tiles.
Construction of a hexagonal pergola
Construction of a hexagonal pergola
A hexagonal garden gazebo is always very elegant and is an ornament of any site. When building it is very important accuracy of calculations, because errors at any stage will significantly affect the final result. It is necessary to begin with the drawing of the future construction, which will allow correctly mark the area and calculate the amount of materials.

For the construction it will be required:
- cement mortar;
- brick or cinder block for poles;
- wooden beams section 150х150 mm;
- planed beams 100x100 mm;
- edging board 50x100 mm;
- ruberoid;
- floor boards;
- self-tapping screws;
- primer;
- varnish for wood;
- screwdriver;
- electric jigsaw;
- construction level;
- roofing.

Step 1. Layout of the
To mark the site, you need two wooden slats and a rope about 2 meters in length. The selected area is leveled, freed from vegetation and stones, in the middle, it is driven into the ground by a rail and tied with a rope. The second end of the rope is tied to another rake and using this homemade circular draw a circle with a radius of 1.75 m. The resulting circle is divided into 6 equal parts and put the beacons on the marking line. There will be support posts for the gazebo.
Step 2. Production of the column foundation
At the place of the beacons dig pits 0.5 m deep and rectangular in shape. The river sand is poured onto the bottom with a layer of 10-15 cm, then a similar layer of coarse gravel. In the middle of the hole drive a steel rod 70 cm long, and then pour everything with cement mortar. From above stack a brick in 3-4 numbers with obligatory dressing. The reinforcing bar must be in the center of the masonry. Similarly, spread out the remaining 5 supports and allow the solution to dry well.
Step 3. Assembling the base of the arbor
Making the base
Measure the distance between adjacent poles and cut the beams according to the measurements. It should be 6 identical in length and thickness of the beams. For a reliable connection of supports between themselves, at the ends make cuts in half the thickness of the tree. After that, the lumber is primed and dried, and then stacked on poles in the form of a hexagon. Between the beams and pillars of the foundation must be laid pieces of roofing material.
Construction of the gazebo
When the beams of the lower strapping are fixed, lags are mounted inside the hexagon. The central lag is placed exactly along the center of the structure, aligned horizontally and fixed to the beams using metal plates and bolts. Next, mount 2 lugs perpendicular to the central, and all the others are inserted at an angle, for which the ends of the boards make small cuts on both sides. In the end, the lags are reinforced with lintels and planks.
Step 4. Construction of walls
Hexagonal arbor made of wood
The frame of the pergola is made of 6 beams 100x100 mm of the same length. Each beam is installed on one of the corners of the base and fixed with anchor bolts. Be sure to check the verticality of the support racks, so that the structure is not skewed. On the upper edge of the assembled strapping of thick boards, and at a height of 70-90 cm from the floor, the posts are connected by horizontal bridges from the bar, leaving the entrance free.
Walls can be made in several versions, depending on the materials available. You can close the pavilion to half the sheets of waterproof plywood, trim the boards, fix the wooden curly bars on the crosspieces between the racks. You can make two or three walls deaf, and the rest are decorated with forged elements.
Step 5. Assembling the roof
Making the roof on the ground
Installing the roof frame
When the walls are ready, proceed to install the rafters for the roof. As a rafters take boards 50x100 mm;for convenience, the assembly is made on the ground. Since there is no central pillar in the gazebo, it is quite difficult to join the rafters neatly. Simplify this process will help cut from the beam hexagon, each side of which will correspond to the thickness of the rafters. The ends of the boards are cut at an angle and fastened with nails to the hexagon;and on the inner side of the strapping saw grooves to install rafters. After this, the design is covered with boards in a circle, leaving small gaps, lifted up and bolted. Now it remains only to lay the roofing material.
