Liquid rubber is a relatively new material in the construction market, but the prospects for its use have become immediately apparent. Naturally, a light and seamless coating, resistant to high temperatures, frost, and rainfall, which can be applied to roofs of various shapes and with a large number of protruding parts, immediately gained popularity.
Liquid rubber may well replace the traditional bitumen, mastics based on it, ruberoid and other flexible roofing materials, which we discussed here. It can also be used as a waterproofing substrate for other roofing materials, if the appearance of the house provides for their use. As an intermediate layer, liquid rubber still acts as an excellent sound and heat insulator, and also strengthens the roof as a whole.
Advantages of liquid rubber
The composition of liquid rubber consists of two components: an aqueous base and an emulsion of modified bitumen with elastomers, polymers and a catalyst( calcium chloride solution).The physical and chemical qualities of the material determine the unique properties of liquid rubber, like roofing.

- Chemically resistant - non-corrosive and does not react with most substances, does not burn and does not emit toxic compounds, since it contains no volatile substances.
- Transport high and low temperatures, as well as sharp changes without cracking and blistering, unlike the same bitumen. Do not collapse under the influence of ultraviolet.
- Roof works using this material do not require electricity, water, fire, are carried out safely and quickly, without involving a large number of people.
- Long service life of the coating, according to the manufacturers, up to 20 years.
Disadvantages of
Conventional disadvantages include the need for a special installation for applying liquid rubber to the roof, for example UZhK-2.But the price quite allows to get it to professionals who are engaged in building or the device of roofs. A faster coating of the roof with liquid rubber in comparison with other materials will make it possible to recoup costs in a short time. Application
It is applied to the roof of a liquid rubber by spraying with a two-channel mixing device that presses a jet a few meters forward under pressure. Both components are mixed in a "torch" and sprayed through the "fishing rod".This method makes it possible to obtain a thin( 2-4 mm) and even layer without "bald spots" and a tightly adhering coating without blisters and delaminations.
The roof is covered with liquid rubber in dry weather, at temperatures above + 5 ° C.Preliminary surface must be cleaned of debris, dust. If there are greasy spots on it, then it is necessary to get rid of them with the help of a gas burner, as the material to join these areas is worse.
The material is dispersed in strips of 1-1.5 m, evenly and without missing. About the parapets, pipes and other projections, the covering must be reinforced with a net or a construction cloth.
Liquid rubber hardens almost immediately, forming a smooth seamless membrane, the coating is vulcanized on average per day, depending on the temperature and humidity of the environment. After solidification, such a roof can be painted with special grades of paints.
Liquid rubber can be used not only as a roofing material, but also as a protection against corrosion for metal structures, waterproofing of cellars, foundations, joints of slabs, pools and reservoirs.
