Isospan S is a building material that serves to create hydro- and vapor-insulating layers. In terms of its composition, this is 100% polypropylene( laminated web of increased density).The range of its use is quite wide. Therefore, you should consider more detailed instructions for the application of "Izospan C" in various situations, which we will do in this article.
Sloping roof( insulated)
The material can be laid directly on the floorboards and on the lathing. You need to know that the smooth side should "look" outward. Installation starts from the bottom, with the upper rows overlapping the lower ones with a "overlap" of at least 15 cm. If the sheet is mounted( horizontally) as a continuation of the previous one, then the overlap must be at least 20 cm.

Attic overlap
When used as a vapor barrier layer, the material is laid out on top of the insulation, smooth side down. The direction is across the beams. Fastening is made by wooden slats. If claydite( backfill) or mineral wool is used for thermal insulation, then Izospan S( the smooth side upwards) first lies on the rough floor. After that - insulation + layer "Izospan".
Layout: floor + Izospan C + insulation + rails + beam.
Insulated roof
"Izospan C" serves to create a vapor barrier layer, regardless of the material of the roofing. It protects the insulation from moisture saturation and is mounted inside the structure. The material should fit snugly to the layer of insulation. When installing finishing materials from the inside( "finish" finish) between them and "Isospan C" should be a distance of at least 4 cm. This is the so-called "ventilation gap".It is especially important to comply with this requirement in rooms with excessive humidity.
Concrete floor
Installation is made on a concrete surface, smooth side down. Above( for leveling) is arranged screed.
Layout: concrete floor + cement screed + "Izospan C" + "finish" coating.
Recommendations for the use of
- The quality of insulation depends on the reliability of joints between the webs. Hence, this issue should be given more attention. To seal them, the Isospan FL tape is often used. The mating points of the material and the elements of the building structure are covered with the ribbon "Izospan Sl".If there is no "Izospan" tape, then it is necessary to use other material, having consulted a specialist beforehand. It should be understood that after the completion of the whole complex of works something will not be possible to fix, since these joints will be inside the "sandwich";
- for fixing the material used nails( galvanized) or a construction stapler;
- if the "finish" coating is a lining( panels, plywood), then "Isospan C" is fixed with vertical wooden slats. Previously, they must be treated with antiseptic compounds. If the exterior is made of plasterboard, then the profiles( galvanized) are used;
- when installing "Isospan C", it should always be turned with a smooth side to the insulation material( if one is used).
