When installing drainage systems, cast iron pipes were used earlier, more rarely, from other materials. But all of them have a number of certain restrictions in the application, connected, for example, with the convenience of transportation, the specifics of installation, maintenance, and the like. PVC sewage pipes have become a good alternative and are being actively introduced in various industries, including in the municipal sector, precisely because they do not have the drawbacks that characterize samples from other materials.
The abbreviation of PVC stands for "polyvinyl chloride", although often such products are called vinyl plast or chlorovinil. The difference is not, because we are talking about the same material. Why is it so attractive for use in engineering drainage systems?
Characteristics of PVC pipes
All of these features are generalized, since there are several types of plastic pipes that differ in production technology, and therefore, with specific properties.
- Light weight. This greatly simplifies both installation and repair work in case of need to replace the damaged section of the route.
- Simple laying and binding technology. Such work can be done on their own, without the invitation of professionals and payment for their services. During the installation, no special equipment or special materials will be required, and connectors of various configurations and diameters are available for sale. In addition, all PVC pipes are dielectric, so you do not have to think about grounding the system.
- Smooth surface of samples. Their operation does not create problems associated with a decrease in the internal diameter due to the formation on the walls of various deposits and outgrowths, except fat. But they do not accumulate so intensively, and their removal of complexities does not represent an effective way to read here.
- Inertness to atmospheric influences, first of all, to temperature changes. Consequently, the pipes are not subject to thermal deformation. Corrosion to them is also not terrible.
- Strength. Some varieties of PVC pipes can be mounted to a depth of 10 m.
- Resistant to aggressive chemical compounds. For example, PVC-NP samples do not react at all to such media.
- Ability to withstand pressure - up to 16 atm.
- The guaranteed operational period is not less than 50 years.
- The price is much lower than for similar products from other materials.
Disadvantages of
- The limited operating temperature range is -10 to +65 ° C, in some cases, up to +90 ° C( short-term exposure). But for sewerage systems this is not a matter of principle.
- Thin-walled pipes can resonate in some cases. Therefore, when laying them in the route, a number of additional operations should be carried out to isolate the trunks.
Classification
For strength:
- SN8 - heavy .Used for laying in the trails, passing under various objects, including, motorways.
- SN4 - medium .Similarly, only in areas with less load.
- SN2 - the lungs of .Such pipes are used at a shallow depth of laying in the ground, and have found wide application in the housing and communal sector and the private sector.
On application:
- For sewage internal - gray or black.
- For outdoor( outside facilities) - yellow or orange.
Pressure:
- Pressure.
- Non-pressure( pull-out by gravity).
Based on manufacturing technology:
- PVC( PVC).
- PVC-U( PVC-NP) - non-plasticized chlorovinyl. They are characterized by greater strength and resistance to aggressive substances. Most often used in pressure systems.
By engineering:
- Smooth-walled.
- Corrugated.
By fastening method:
- Connection "into the socket".
- Bonding.
Cost of PVC pipes
The assortment of products is quite large, but the given data for certain types of products will help you to orient yourself in pricing( in rubles / pm).
- 160 mm - from 260( for outdoor works).
- 110 mm( 3,2 - wall thickness), flare - from 104( for indoor installation) and 155( for outdoor).
- 50 mm - from 55( for internal packing).
Practical tips for
- The diameter of the outer pipes should be greater than the same parameter of the central riser.
- Approximate sections for connecting the drain( mm):
- shower, sink, bath and the like - 40( if combined drainage - not less than 50);
- various bends from the central highways - at least 65;
- toilet bowl, riser - 100.
- For the private sector in the installation of external sewerage, samples with a diameter within 110 - 250 mm are sufficient. For houses characterized by a heavy load on the system( pool, sauna and so on) - up to 400 mm. At the same time, it is first necessary to pay attention to the thickness of the pipe wall, and only then to the cross section.
- Do not confuse PVC pipes with similar products from other materials - polypropylene or polyethylene. With all their merits, they are distinguished by a significant "minus" - the complexity of installation. This is due to the difficulty of cutting, processing, and so on.
