We lay parquet with our own hands on plywood, concrete screed

Where does parquet laying start? As in any kind of repair and construction work - everything starts with preparation.

To begin with, a few words about the actual surface.

Parquet is a "noble" material, which has been popular for more than one century, is characterized by its beauty and durability.

There are several of its varieties: piece parquet, massive parquet board, artificial or laminated( laminate), garden.

Now we turn to the question: how correctly to lay parquet?

General technology

Before proceeding with laying parquet, you need to prepareThe surface on which it will be laid. The base must be perfectly level.

According to SNiP 3.04.01-87 at a length of 2 m, the plane's differences should not exceed 2 mm. Before starting work, the substrate is checked by a hygrometer for humidity.

You can lay parquet boards on concrete, the old wooden floor, a solid wooden surface.

The most commonly used scheme is laying a parquet board on a moisture resistant plywood, cut into squares. In turn, it is attached to a cement screed or a wooden base.

Plywood is used to exclude various deformations of the screed, increase the strength of the base and thermal insulation, and also increase the service life of the parquet itself.

The next step is preparing the plywood, cutting it into squares of 50x50 cm( the squares are made in such a way as to avoid inter-parquet seams). The thickness of the plywood is selected depending on the thickness of the coating.

So, for example, with a parquet of 15 mm thick, a plywood of 12 mm is taken. Further, the laying scheme is as follows: the plywood is fixed to the base with a special glue or screws with masonry.

Between the sheets, gaps( temperature seams) are left about 3-5 mm. Near the wall the gaps should reach 1 cm, which at the end are sealed with a sealant.

When fastening the plywood to the screws, the heads are drowned. The disadvantage of such fastening is that in time the plywood starts to creak.

After all the manipulations, the plywood base is ground, paying special attention to the joints.

Next comes the laying of parquet on plywood. But before that, parquet boards should "stand firm", that is, lie in the room for 3 to 5 days.

Then a special trowel on the plywood is applied glue, which can be of several types:

  • water-dispersion;
  • two-component polyurethane( reactive);
  • on solvents.

The latter is suitable for all types of wood, but does not provide 100% strength.

The use of water-dispersion adhesives is not recommended for some tree species.

Reactive - does not affect the tree, but the operating time with it is limited to one hour.

Also in the question: how to put parquet - it is important to note that each of its individual tiles when stacking is targeted with carnations.

Depending on the type of stacking scheme used, the alignment can be carried out through several tiles. At the end of the work, the coating should be given a "rest" for several days.

Adhesive for parquet

The next step will be polishing the parquet boards, which in turn takes place in two stages: rough grinding - carried out by a large grain, and a clean one.

Before the last grinding, it is necessary to make the coating putty. Usually, fine sanding is carried out using a P100-120 emery cloth.

Parquet laying with own hands is completed by applying a decorative and protective layer.

Now let's look at the ways of laying the parquet.

We lay parquet on cement screed

Technology of laying parquet on cement screed is a classic.

As mentioned above, the floor must be perfectly flat with an allowable error of 2 mm. With deviations, you can use a self-leveling floor.

Laying on the screed

According to the BCH document 9-94, the relative humidity of the room should be 5%.First of all, it concerns the moment when the parquet is laid on a concrete screed.

Cement screed height of 5 cm hardens for four weeks and dries for the next four weeks.

To prevent leakage of concrete solution to the lower floors, a waterproofing coating is laid before laying the screed, as it can be foil and reinforced film or thick polyethylene.

The edges of the film should go a little to the wall. After laying the screed, it is necessary to withstand the time for drying. When the substrate dries, it will need to be primed for better adhesion of the surface with the glue.

The type of glue must match the type of primer. Next, the styling takes place according to the technology presented above.

Laying a parquet board on logs

The main advantages of this method before laying the parquet on the screed is that it saves the time it takes to dry the concrete foundation( up to several weeks).

Laying on logs

The space formed under the parquet boards can be filled with mats that provide additional thermal and sound insulation, as well as communications.

When installing such a structure on concrete, the latter can not be leveled. It will be enough to produce a waterproofing. Lags are attached to the floor by dowels, using corners. The step is 25-35 cm.

It is necessary to ensure that the surface resulting from the result is even. In places where there is a skew, you can put a wooden bar or cut off excess.

Plywood is fastened to the installed logs with self-tapping screws, whose heads are heated. To ensure a stronger foundation, a second layer of plywood is attached by gluing.

The further scheme of actions is carried out by technology.

We lay the parquet on the old floor

How to lay parquet on the old floor? To begin with, the floor is checked for serviceability: for clearances, roughness and even surface.

Laying on the rough floor

The old wooden floor has a squeaky property. To avoid creaking in the future, those places where it is heard, it is better to disassemble.

After the floor has been repaired, the surface must be leveled and sanded. There is another trick of getting rid of the creaking: the parquet boards are stacked on the old floor perpendicularly.

Before laying on the old base lay the substrate. If the floor is even, the substrate can be thin. In our case, it is better to use a thicker substrate.

If you lay parquet boards on the old wooden floor, then there is no need to use plywood.
On the old base you can lay not only natural parquet, but also artificial - laminate.

Next, consider all types of laying parquet.

Single parquet

Its distinctive feature is the dimensions, they are much smaller than the sizes of parquet boards.

In general, such a parquet is attached to the common technology, but due to its size there are different options for laying the parquet, for example, the laying of parquet flooring begins with a marking of the base.

In the middle of the room, a string is stretched, which acts as a guide, from which we begin to lay. You need to do this very carefully, so that the herringbone does not budge.

The edges of the parquet are cut off at the end of the drawing under the frieze - framing the perimeter of the flooring from the parquet boards.

Deck laying of piece parquet is more common, as the process of work is less labor-intensive, in comparison with the pattern of "herringbone".

The laying of parquet flooring by deck method consists in the displacement of tiles, as in brick laying, or in bias diagonally.

Piece of parquet

Modular parquet

Modular parquet laying has its own characteristics. Modular parquet is a tile made of several piece racks with a drawing on them.

The construction of the coating is as follows: the surface layer of wood, the lower layers - plywood. Due to this you can lay it both on plywood and directly on cement screed.

In order for the coating to be smooth, tighten the guide shafts and indicate where the pattern will start from. The modules are assembled according to the "spike-groove" system.

There is a simpler method of laying a modular parquet, except fixing on glue, screws. As always, the ground must be prepared, even.

It is laid on an adhesive substrate made of elastilone, which has excellent heat-insulating and noise-absorbing qualities, it takes less time for laying.

Modular parquet

Laminated panels

The scheme for preparing the substrate for a laminate is the same as using a natural parquet board.

The substrate is laid on a flat surface( concrete, old wooden floor, glued linoleum): it is possible to cover the entire surface at once or in parts as the work progresses.

The docking of the substrate sheets can be fixed with a paint tape.

If you plan to lay a laminate on a concrete screed, then before the substrate you need to lay polyethylene film as a vapor barrier.

Laminated panels

To ensure that the joints are not visible, the laminate is laid perpendicular to the wall on which the window is located.

This item depends on the quality: the higher the quality of the laminate, the higher the docking density, therefore, the seams are less noticeable.

When laying, a temperature seam near the wall is also left.

Laminate is better to lay with a bricklaying, for this purpose it is necessary to take care of an instrument in advance: an electric jigsaw or a hand hacksaw - in order that the laminate can be cut.

For better fixing, you can use a hammer.

Garden parquet

Garden parquet or decking is gaining increasing popularity. They can lay the floor on the veranda, terrace, in the basement or the path, replacing the usual paving slab.

Garden parquet looks like a modular one: it consists of several boards, between which are formed small gaps for ventilation. Has a non-slip surface, resistant to moisture.

Garden parquet

To lay the garden parquet, first prepare the base.

The surface is leveled, tamped, a gravel cushion is created( sand should be avoided so that the tiles do not fail).

If it is a sidewalk, it is necessary to ensure a slight inclination of the base. Further, laying of the decking is done.

The garden parquet has lock fastenings, on which the installation takes place( fastened also as a laminate).

On the terrace, veranda the installation takes place in a slightly different way.

The base must be flat, its material does not play an important role.

Wooden lags are installed on the base, on which the garden parquet is fixed.

Modules are attached to the lags on the self-tapping screws, with each other - lock fasteners, like a laminate.

Care for this coating is not particularly difficult. If the surface of the modules is made of natural wood, then periodically it should be rubbed with special oils to protect it from moisture.

In case of severe frost, the garden parquet can easily be dismantled. The usual decking( wood-polymer) is less whimsical, requires periodic washing with water and brushes.
