Why do we need a putty for laminate, and how to qualitatively repair the coating?

About laminate laying

To understand how to connect a laminate, it is necessary to familiarize yourself with some rules of its laying. One of the most important moments is the leveling of the floor. So, remove any unevenness with a screed or a dense lining. After purchase, the material should be allowed to stand for 48 hours in the room where it will lie down. The coating will get used to the microclimate in the room( temperature, humidity).The laminate joint is made perpendicular to the window, so all seams will be less noticeable.

Note! Spacer wedges are used to secure the panel before the deformation gap.

Before laying, the deformation gap between the wall and the first panel must be left. If there are obstacles in the way of laying, then a place is cut out in the panel to make it stand upright. Between the pipe and the panel it is necessary to leave a gap, it will be further closed with a special tab. On the second row, the laminate joining is already easier. Panels of the second row are built into the joint between the laminate and laminate at an angle of 45 degrees, fit into the lock and snap into place.

Aiming the beauty of

After the laminate is completely laid, there remain joints that spoil the appearance of the coating. Laminate joints are an indicator of the quality of the work performed. To close them, there are three types of flaps:

  • Straight lines - necessary for straight seams, which are on the same level;
  • Leveling - able to connect different height of the floor. Smoothen the differences of 3-18 millimeters;
  • Finishing - are used to decorate the edge on the podium, approaching the threshold, the ladder and so on.

Each docking profile for the laminate on the surface forms a small protrusion. However, many people want the floor to be perfectly flat. Problems of this kind can be solved with the help of a cork compensator. This is a strip of cork, which is pasted between the lining of wood. Cork thickness of 10 millimeters can easily shrink to 5 millimeters, and also easily return to its previous state. That is, the material quietly compensates for the movement of the floor and eliminates the need to put the paddles.

Get rid of cracks

Causes of chips, scratches and cracks can be the movement of furniture, walking on the surface on thin heels, the fall of various sharp and heavy objects and so on. In areas that are particularly intensively used, there may be mechanical damage. They not only make the laminate externally ugly, but also allow the water to enter inside, which leads to swelling of the boards.

Laminate grout can eliminate these defects. Its application makes it possible to restore the surface and the layer of protection, which is of great importance for preventing penetration of moisture. Before applying lubricant, thoroughly clean the surface of the damaged area from dust and dirt. Next around this place is pasted paint tape, and the instructions are applied to the solution. After it dries, the place is polished. The color of the putty must be precisely selected so that it fuses with the common coating.

Important! In order not to damage the surface of the laminate, use only industrial putty.

It is not advisable to make up putty yourself, because its composition can lead to spoilage, which will force you to completely change the area of the laminate. Industrial pastes are developed taking into account the composition of the material, so they perfectly adhere to the damaged area, making the restoration durable. This mixture allows you to repair any type of laminate floor and doors.
