What you should know before starting work
Before painting the glass, it must be washed with a soap solution and washed successively with warm and hot water. The work is carried out with standard paint tools: roller, flange and foam rubber foam. In some cases, an end bristle brush is used. The paint should have a consistency of sour cream and is applied in a thin layer.
The work is done on a lying horizontally glass, as this will prevent smudges. If there is no possibility to remove the glass, then with vertical coloring, it is necessary to make horizontal movements starting from above and gradually descending to the bottom. Decorative painting is performed on a glass two millimeters thick. Then the glass is glued to the same size and thickness.
After that they are installed and fixed. If desired, you can make decorative drawings with the pencil "Steklograph" .Also, stained glass is often performed when each individual piece is inserted into the lead frame. A special pencil can draw cracks to get the effect of antiquity.
Note! You can work absolutely any color by mixing different colors.Preparation of a coloring composition
To make a colored glass with your own hands, you need to prepare different colors of the paint. Consider the most popular of them:
- For the preparation of white paint you will need: 80 grams of silicate glue and 20 grams of kaolin. It is prepared as follows: kaolin is rubbed and carefully mixed with glue. To apply a ready mix, it is necessary to use a pointed wand or artistic feathers.
- Ingredients for black color: 60 grams of silicate glue, 20 grams of black polygraphic, 20 grams of charcoal. All the ingredients are mixed well in a porcelain container, and the finished mixture is filtered.
- Etching paint. This material differs in that it penetrates deeply into the glass, so it will be impossible to remove it. Given this factor, care must be taken when applying the solution. Ingredients of the composition: 50 milliliters of distilled water, 1.5 grams of zinc chloride, 6.5 grams of hydrochloric acid. For the second composition you will need: 8 grams of sodium fluoride, 35 milliliters of distilled water, 0.7 grams of sulfuric potassium. Both solutions are prepared separately and mixed before glass painting begins.
Note! Working with etching paint, pre-plot on the glass all the drawings, so that there are minimal spasms.
In addition, you can make red glass, blue glass and any other color. For such colors, the composition will be as follows: vinegar, waterproof varnish, water, dye, gelatin. All ingredients are mixed until thick.
Glass colored - comprehend the basics of the process
Glass painting is best done with an electric or pneumatic gun. In this case, the composition will cover the entire surface to be treated evenly and without streaks. If there are no such devices, then you can use a brush, roller or foam rubber swab. If there are glasses in the neighborhood that will not be amenable to processing, then they need to be covered with a paint tape.
If for the first time you try to make a multi-colored glass, then it's better to practice on draft material to avoid spoiling the work. The mixture is applied in one layer with a thickness of 80-120 μm. However, if, in your opinion, one layer is small, then the second layer can be applied. For this, the first layer must be completely dry. Remove the paint layers in case of unsatisfactory work can be the first 4-6 hours.
Tip! To improve the quality of the coating, infrared drying can be used.
