Downspouts and their designs. Short list with description of
To date, there are only three types of drainage design. We list them.
- External drain. It is collected only on the basis of pipes that are located on the outside of the wall of the house. For the collection of waste water use special gutters and pipes that transport water from the roof to the foundation. Such a gutter is easy to install, but it must necessarily correspond to the style of the facade, otherwise the design will simply spoil the exterior of the house.
- Internal water drain. The structure contains all of the above elements, but the drain pipe is located outside the exterior of the facade of the house. Sewer pipe can be placed even in the wall, which in no way will affect the appearance of the exterior of the house. Plus, this drain will not freeze in the cold season. The editing process is complex, but justified.
Combined water drain. Combines the above options into one, taking into account their best qualities. In such a system, the fixing of drainpipes is external, and the installation of vertical water conduits is internal. This drainage has the best protection against freezing, a well thought out design and a simplified assembly.
Types of downpipes, their properties and description
Here again there are only three varieties. Let us consider them in more detail.
Metal pipes
Metal gutters. There are steel and copper. They have a large weight of running meter, a high noise level, created from the beating of water on the surface of the drainpipe. Galvanized pipes weigh a lot less, but their steel rattles like a drum, unlike copper, the lowest-noise pipes. In addition to these materials, aluminum is also used, which is rid of almost all of the listed shortcomings. It is light and not so noisy, it can not be corroded and has no great value. However, despite its advantages, copper, aluminum and galvanizing material have a high thermal conductivity, and therefore be ready to fight ice cork.
Metal gutters and pipes are attached to bearing supports using brackets that fix on the edge of the roof or on the frontal board of the roofing system. They are connected to the socket or to the coupling. The joints are fixed with self-tapping screws for metal, while leaving a small gap in case of linear deformation.
Plastic pipes
Plastic drains. A cheap and practical solution. They are not afraid of corrosion and linear deformation, they have low weight and no noisy work process. This is the main competitor of the metal gutter, in addition to its advantages, the plastic has an attractive appearance due to different colors. Installation is carried out on the glued joint and the same system of brackets as for metal pipes. Thanks to the factory-made manufacturing method, the assembly process becomes incredibly simple.
Combined gutters
Combined gutters. They include galvanized pipes and fittings with a polymer coating - plastisol. It is a plastic polymer covering the galvanized core on both sides. They can withstand temperatures from -50 to +120 degrees, they are not subject to deformation, they are strong and reliable due to the steel core. One of the best constructions for drainage.
As you can already understand, combined gutters will soon replace their competitors. They have the best characteristics and properties, so installing combined downspouts will be the best solution for a home.
