Defining rolling characteristics
Based on the definition, rolling is a cardinal change in the diameter of a segment or a change in the metal plane in different directions.
Distinguish:
- rolling, i.e. the change in the diameter of the tube directly during its welding processes,
- rolling in the process of manufacturing a seamless pipeline,
- bending of bends,
- rolling for diameter increase( flaring),
- for diameter reduction - rolling.
Expanding functions
As already mentioned, the flaring is the process of increasing the diameter of a pipeline segment. The main purpose of the flaring is the connection of parts of pipeline communication. With the help of flaring, you can insert one piece into the other.
Special tools are used for flaring:
- construction cone, which changes the diameter value to a larger value,
- is a tool that gives the possibility to regulate the force,
- expander - clamp( image 1).
Flaring is the most common type of pipeline deformation. The main thing for regulators is the safety and professional use of the necessary tools. Builders of higher categories use only high-quality equipment, knowing the importance of the strength of building materials, the absence of its streaks and the propensity to always unexpected and unpleasant breakthroughs.
For expansion, use a cone-shaped funnel that is inserted into a firmly fixed tube, gradually increasing its edges. To control the degree of expansion and preservation of the walls, use a grip( image 2 ).The expander can also be operated by an expander, the handle of which, when compressed, allows expanding the walls. But the most successful nevertheless proved to be a cone-shaped( see above) device - screwing in the tube, it increases the diameter, evenly reducing the thickness of the walls. It is important to remember that a cone-shaped tool is used only for metals that are ductile to changing shapes.
Rolling of pipes: basic concepts of
The reverse of the above process is rolling. Reducing the diameter of the pipeline segment. Often a standard hammer is used for this process. Quite often, special clamps are used, which are deliberately designed to narrow the pipe.
Practical rolling application:
- for changing the shape of the strip, which helps the pipe to acquire a rounded shape,
- eliminating and smoothing the seams,
- shaping the profiled pipe.
Rolling for pipe bending
Sometimes it is not necessary for the pipe to deform its radius in greater or lesser directions. Sometimes, the pipe requires a change in its bending: this is facilitated by a special kind of rolling and a special tool with an uncomplicated name for the pipe bender. The principle of its work is that the pipe is fixed in the desired position, and the bend is made by the movements of the handle. The radius of bending is determined by a special adjusting roller.
There is a little trick. Before rolling the pipe, it must be filled with sand. This will keep the pipe walls strong.
