This was due to the fact that the material has high strength, reliability, is made by pressing several wooden layers.

The installation has its own characteristics, but it can easily be done by hand.

There is sorting of plywood in quality( appearance):

1. Class E - is the most expensive, elite material. The knots are missing completely;
2. First grade - there are microcracks, no obvious defects;
3. The second grade - you can find about two percent of the traces of glue, small dents and scratches. It is often used for leveling the floor;
4. The third grade is of lower quality, there are knots, wormholes;
5. The fourth grade is the lowest in quality. Characterized by a large number of defects, unevenness, it is possible to use for laying under linoleum.

It should be noted that the main disadvantage of the material is hygroscopicity. In a humid environment, even a waterproof plywood can begin to peel off and delaminate.

Therefore, it must be treated with special coatings.

Plywood laying methods

Plywood is used to create a flat floor for the laminate, linoleumand even under the laying of ceramic tiles. The execution of any work begins with preparation.

In this case, based on the negative moments of the material, you need to check the floor and the whole room for humidity.

For this, a small section of the floor is covered with a polyethylene film( not in tension), at the edges it is pressed with heavy objects.

If within a day condensation formed, then, in the room is very humid and it must be dried.

If for several days a few small drops formed, then the concrete floor can be covered with a waterproofing film and start working, the wooden base should be better disassembled and dried or allowed to dry again.

If the condensate is not formed, then the plywood sheets can be stacked.

Plywood laying on concrete floor

It is carried out under the condition of a dry and clean surface. To provide additional waterproofing, a special substrate or thick polyethylene is lapped before laying.

Such materials are attached to scotch tape. This technology is used when the logs are not installed.

Beforehand, the plywood is cut to squares, laid out on the floor, numbered, and then retracted.

Plywood is attached directly to the concrete, therefore for these works a punch is necessary.

The sheets are fixed on the self-tapping screws in the center and around the perimeter, whose caps are heated a few millimeters.

Near the threshold, it is desirable to exclude the joints of the sheets, it is better to put a solid cloth, because in this place the load on the floor will be greater. Between the sheets it is necessary to leave gaps of 2-3 mm.

Such seams ensure the integrity of the floor covering, eliminate deformation. From the wall there are also gaps of a thickness of 1-2 cm, which are concealed by skirting boards in final finishing.

Plywood is laid directly on the concrete floor in cases where it is intended to use as a decorative coating linoleum or cork floor, that is, the material is less sensitive to small irregularities.

Plywood is mounted on logs

This technology is used for laminate or parquet. The device of the log allows you to exclude all surface irregularities, create a warm floor, and also conduct additional communications.

As in the first variant, you first need to lay polyethylene, the entire structure will be installed on it.

Bars are installed with a level at a distance such that the insulation( glass wool, expanded clay, polystyrene, etc.) between them is placed in tension, approximately 50-60 cm.

When forming uneven surfaces, small inserts made of wood or a piece of roofing material are made for logs.

The lag is installed by the grate. The same scheme is used for laying tiles. The entire structure must be glued and fixed with anchor bolts.

Plywood is cut into squares in such a way that each of them is attached to the lags by all sides. The coating itself should be a thickness of 18 mm. Stacking also happens in a chess way.

When installing a laminate, it is important that the joints of the substrate do not match the seams of the decorative floor covering.

With this option it is necessary to check the floor for its suitability. The boards should not be rotten, curved, unsteady.

If any of the floorboards is deformed and creaks, then it should be disassembled. If lags are used, then they should be checked for their suitability.

If mold or fungus is visible, then such boards are also removed to prevent further spread of bacteria.

After you make sure that the old floor is still in good condition, you can start laying plywood.

If the laying occurs under the laminate, then the flatness of the floor is constantly checked using a two-meter rail. Under the linoleum, you can tolerate a small error in the alignment.

Plywood sheets are attached to the wooden floor with self-tapping screws, it is possible to fix the adhesive, but it will not work if the laminate is later installed.

A solid foundation must be made for it, excluding possible shifts.

Laying for tiles

Less common is the installation of plywood for ceramic tiles. Most often, the use of tiles is used in wet areas, that is, in the bathroom or toilet.

The main "enemy" of plywood is humidity, therefore this method is not always used in specified places. But the laying of tiles can be found not only in the bathroom, toilet.

She also decorates the kitchen( she is a wet area, but the humidity is lower here), corridors, and sometimes the whole floor.

Of course, some features should be considered:

• Due to the large weight of the tiles, the thickness of the plywood must not be less than 22 millimeters;
• In wet areas additional waterproofing is done;
• Do not use floor heating when installing tiles directly on plywood;
• Plywood sheets must be securely fastened;
• If lags are used, the distance between them should not be large, the thickness of the plywood itself should not be less than 30 mm;
• The plywood base must be clean, dry, free of joints. It is necessary to primer plywood in two layers.

For laying tiles on a plywood base, special glue is required, which has elasticity. This is important because the plywood can be deformed.

It is better to use a two-component polyurethane adhesive, which is an additional waterproofing agent and dries quickly.

Another glue may also come up which, when in contact with moisture, hardens and at the same time draws it. It includes a modified silane.
