Photo of the device of the siphon and its variety
The siphon for the bathroom is designed to ensure that sewage smells and gases do not penetrate into the living area. It forms a kind of water gate. The device of the siphon should be known to every owner, not to cause the same for any small clog of plumbing. The device is quite simple. There are four basic elements:
- The drain neck, which is built directly into the opening of the bath. In turn, the neck consists of a lower part, which is an expanding branch pipe, and a top part in the form of a chrome-plated cup. Between these two parts are enclosed the bottom of the bathroom and connect them with a metal screw. For tightness, the siphon is equipped with a gasket.
- The overflow neck is arranged similarly to the drain, but its purpose is different. It is necessary for the excess water from the bathroom to escape through it in case you forgot to close the water in the bathroom. Thus, this is your savior from flooding neighbors from the bottom.
- A siphon is a curved pipe that can be of different shapes. It constantly contains water, which is the gateway to the smells. A large role is played by the amount of this water. If it is too small and the ventilation of the sewer pipe is broken, then the water can suck. It is better to choose a deep siphon with a volume of 300-400 ml.
- Corrugated hose for connecting the overflow with a siphon.
A branch pipe by means of which the siphon is connected to the sewage system. It can be hard and corrugated. The rigid is more reliable, and the corrugated is easier to install and its length can be adjusted.
Instructions for installing the siphon for the bathroom with your own hands.
When buying a bath siphon, we find an assembly instruction with it. It would seem, if you follow it, even a child will cope with this task, but usually there are all kinds of questions and ambiguities. To make the assembly process more understandable, follow the steps below:
- If you decide to change the old siphon for a new siphon, you must first remove the old siphon, and place it carefully cleaned so that the new gaskets securely mesh with the surface of the bathtub.
- First we take the lower overflow, put a gasket in it, and all this is put to the hole under the bathroom. At this time, from the inside of the bath to the drain hole, put the top cover, insert the screw and screw it. Let someone help you, because it is difficult to keep the lower part and tighten the top at the same time. Here the main thing is not to overdo it and do not tighten too tightly - plastic siphon can burst from excessive efforts.
- The same is done with overflow.
- Next, you need to connect the overflow with the drain of the corrugated hose. If it's too long, do not shorten it, just bend smoothly. Remember, first, the nut is fitted with a nut, and then the gasket, and the gasket should fit a thin end to the neck.
- To the neck we connect the bolt. Be sure to check the quality of the connections for defects in casting or burrs, they may depressurize the sink.
- Set the corrugation to the water gate.
- We connect the siphon with the sewage system using a sealing cuff.
It remains to check the build quality of the water element. If there is no leaking, then you can use the bathroom, you coped with the task perfectly.
