We prepare the basis of the tool
The proposed version of the jig saw consists of a tubular arc, a handle, a nichrome thread, an electric button, screws with nuts, an earring, an insulating gasket and an electric wire. The arc is made of a duralumin tube with a diameter of 12 millimeters. Also, as an option, it can be made of multi-ply or 10-mm thick textolite. The main thing is that this part is easy. It displays a cylindrical tail, inside which a power wire will be laid.
Note! The arc can be any shape, but the best option is when one corner( the one closest to the handle) is made at an angle of 90 degrees, and the second( far) is 45 degrees.
The earring is made from a sheet of copper one millimeter thick. It is fixed by two screws on an arc in the place where the handle of the instrument will be installed. A nichrome thread will be attached to the earring with a special wing nut, which serves as a heating element. Between the two cheeks( made from sheet duralumin 0.8 mm thick) an electric button is mounted.
Installation of electrical elements
To make the jigsaw with your own hands, you need a heating element. For this purpose, a spiral from an electric iron, ideally a diameter of half a centimeter, will do. The length of the nichrome thread should be the same as the length of the tubular arc. It is attached with a slight tension. It is supplied with a voltage of 12-14 V, due to which heating and cutting takes place.
Note! Working in this way, it is advisable to control the operation of the rheostat.
Knowledge of energy consumption when working with specific materials is necessary in order to choose the optimal length and thickness of the nichrome thread. On average, the amperage should be within 3-5 amps. Before starting work, depending on the material, the required voltage is set. It should be taken into account that too much current will ignite the plywood, but not strong enough to soften the plexiglass, but not rarezhet. This self-made electric jigsaw with its own hands is very simple, and it can be cut with the help of details of any shape.

When working with small details, a hand-held jigsaw can be inconvenient for several reasons. First, the detail is not always obtained. Secondly, a wide file gives strong limitations in the curvature of the sawing. However, this problem can easily be solved by making a self-made desktop jigsaw.
Consider how to make a jigsaw bench from a hand-held electric jig saw. The simplest version is assembled as follows:
- A slot for the saw of the device is made in the sheet of plywood.
- For drilling under the screws in the plywood and the bottom of the tool holes are drilled.
- Next, the jigsaw is attached so that the saw falls into the cutting slot.
- The finished construction is fixed on the table with clamps.
The gap in the plywood sheet can be made by drilling a large number of holes along the drawn line. After that, the drill smooths out any irregularities. There are a lot of options for processing. It can be plastic, wood, plexiglass, metal and so on. There are also various systems of fastening the structure to the table, but clamps are the simplest way.
Note! In this design, the saw remains standard, which limits the possible curvature of the cut.
