Any moisture draining from the roof of buildings erodes the ground near the basement and, thus, dirty puddles appear on the local area. To solve this problem, a storm sewage system is used, which allows to drain melted and rainwater from the pristavovye territories of private houses and other buildings. Possessing some information that I will try to convey, you can mount such a sewer system by yourself.

It should be understood that storm sewage pipes are also used to drain water from sidewalks or even roads, because the excess water on the road surface significantly hinders the movement and destroys the asphalt surface.

Water does not undergo additional cleaning, but is immediately discharged into roadside ditches, reservoirs or collectors. The only exception is sewerage at industrial facilities and where further contamination of wastewater is possible.

The system of storm water drain consists of elements:

  1. channels, trays, gutters. They are used to transport the water collecting it from the surface;
  2. water inlet - put in the lowest places and used for point collection of water under the drainpipes;
  3. sand trap - mounted on surface sewer channels, and used to trap sand and other debris from entering the sewer pipe;
  4. sewer pipes - are laid to a greater depth than the soil can freeze. They must necessarily be connected to an external system of channels, gutters and rainwater receivers;
  5. manholes - help to control the operation of storm sewers, and also to notice the gaps in time;The
  6. collector is a common sewer pipe that helps drain water to the discharge points.

To properly install a storm sewage system that will be sufficient to provide a separate building or site, the following parameters should be taken into account:

  • Intensity and amount of average monthly precipitation in a given region;
  • Area of surfaces on which water is collected;
  • Relief of the area where sewerage will pass;
  • The rainwater drainage pipe must be inclined at least 6-7 mm / m.

The most expensive, not only for the cost, but also for the installation time, will be the laying of all pipes under the ground. It is for this reason that it is recommended to use water drainage to the maximum capacity in all surface trays. Such trays should be located in all possible places, where there is a possibility of flooding with melt or rain water.

In areas where surface channels are connected to a closed pipe system, rainwater intake pits should be installed to collect excess debris or sand.
