Types of wall insulation for plastering

Consider the most common materials for the insulation of walls for plastering.

  • Mineral wool is produced on the basis of waste metallurgical slag. It has such useful properties as low chemical and biological interaction with foreign substances, due to which mineral wool does not rot from interaction with microorganisms, fungi and bacteria. On the market, it is presented in the form of rolls and mats.
  • Glass fiber is a material made from glass fibers. Has a high fire threshold and increased flexibility due to its structure of long parallel fibers. Sold in the form of plates and rolls.
  • Foam glass is a heater made from glass by bringing it to the boiling point and foaming. Absolutely non-flammable material, has a strong resistance to stress and mechanical stress. You can buy in the form of mats in a wide range of sizes.
  • Basalt plates are made from mineral rocks. This material has a high density and resistance to deformation. The market is represented in a wide range of sizes.
  • Polyfoam is the cheapest insulator made from oil products waste. It has good thermal insulation properties, but at the same time it is combustible, does not possess stable mechanical properties.
  • Aerated concrete and gas silicate - one of the most popular methods of thermal protection, which is particularly in need of plastering.

How the plaster is applied to the insulation

After the selected material is mounted on the wall, the next step is the plaster on the insulation, which is made after the reinforcement. This is done to further fix the insulation material and create a good base under the plaster layer. The reinforced mesh is fixed with the help of special fasteners that do not conduct heat and cold, similar to plastic fungi. The knife is screwed into the supporting wall, and the cap is attracted to the wall by a grid, and a heat insulator.

After the wall is reinforced, plastering beacons are placed on its surface. This simple action will facilitate the next stage and will allow to obtain a perfectly flat surface. Now you can go to the plaster on the heater. To do this, take a pre-mixed working solution and systematically from the bottom up apply it along the entire prepared surface.

Plastering of walls on a heater - advice

  • By the described method it is possible to warm both internal, and external vertical surfaces. The plaster of the facade is made similarly to the plastering of the internal walls by the heat-insulating material. The only difference is that different mixtures of working solutions are used.
  • When performing these works, you should not trust the eye: it is worth using good measuring instruments.
  • The heat insulator for walls must be chosen taking into account the temperature characteristics of its climate zone, adding to the average values in your area a reserve of at least 30%.
  • Plastering necessarily starts from the bottom and ends at the top, this allows the top layers of the plaster mixture to have a good base and not swim during operation.
  • It is necessary to pay attention to the type of the selected mesh for plaster, it can be different, each has its own characteristics - weak and strong sides.
  • When choosing a heater, mesh and other materials, be sure to check the certificates for the purchased material, there are a lot of fakes on the market. And the result of your repair or improvement depends only on you!
