Preparing for operation
Before starting the process of artificial aging of the lamp, it must be carefully prepared for this. For work is best not suitable for a new metal lamp with smooth curves, carvings or other decorative ornaments.
To start, the chandelier should be cleaned well. We take a soapy solution and with the help of metal wool. This will get rid of the old dirt. To clean it in hard-to-reach places, you can use a toothbrush. After the dirt is removed, the lamp should be wiped with a dry soft cloth. When the surface dries, wipe it again with a damp sponge to remove the settling dust.

The next stage is applying a special paint to the surface of the lamp. To do this, it is best to use a dispersion paint of brown or chocolate shades. It is most convenient to apply paint with a flat brush about 4-5 cm in size. After the paint has completely dried, another layer should be applied, paying special attention to bends and corners.
To a chandelier in the old days looked natural, one chocolate paint is not enough. Therefore, we dilute a light-green dispersion paint in any container. We dip into it a round circular brush and apply to the surface, only after the previous layer has completely dried.
A feature of the application of green paint is that it should be applied almost dry brush, and do not paint the indentations and bends. That is, in the end, the surface of a forged chandelier under the antiquity should look as if it is covered with a touch. The main thing is not to overdo it, otherwise the lamp will be just green. Excess paint can be removed with a paper napkin.

Photo of old chandeliers shows that after two layers of paint, one more layer should be applied. We take a flat brush and apply a thin layer of light green paint. Apply a thin layer, if the layer turns thick, excess paint should be immediately removed. The purpose of this stage is to highlight the depressions and some decorative elements of the chandelier, thereby emphasizing the structural nature of the decor. The best option is when the chocolate base peeps through the green paint.
To make the chandelier look like the one on the photo, after the paint has dried, take a small amount of golden wax. Gently apply the wax finger to the open places and grooves, carefully rub it.
Decoration of old chandeliers
An excellent decoration will be grape leaves or flowers. To a chandelier for the antique, made by own hands, looked stylish, the decor elements should also be finished like a copper coot. As decorations can serve as leaves or flowers made of paper, covered with copper, or berries. Berries are glass beads, worn on a wire. To make the view of the luminaire complete, the berries can be painted with glass paint.
