Step battens for profiled sheeting - instructions for fixing the battens

The last and final stage of the construction of the house is the roofing, that is, the construction of the roofing and the laying of special coatings from above. At this level of development of the construction industry, the main role in covering the house is played by such material as corrugated board. It is convenient, durable, effective, has all the basic properties for a good protective roof function.

One of the most important stages in the installation of a corrugated board is a preliminary sheathing, which must have the correct structure and stably fulfill its main function - firmly fix the material that will cover the roof. The lining is made up of boards or bars, which are mounted on a strong support, then effectively fastened by staples. With the correct installation of this frame, the lath will be strong and not subject to the influence of mold processes.

The main materials for the lath are wood and metal frames. The tree is used to build roofs in private houses. The metal frame, in turn, is used for industrial facilities. The structure and material of the battens vary depending on the anticipated load on the roof, as well as on the specific features of the structure.

Options for fixing the crate

There are two options for roofing when laying corrugated board:

  • The first is a single-pitched roof, which is mainly used for the construction of utility buildings.
  • The second type - gable, they mainly cover residential houses. The roof slope varies from 0 to 60 degrees for different types of buildings. The design diagram should be well thought out and calculated.

The main components of the crate are wooden beams, laid perpendicular lines with a certain pitch. They are fixed mainly with nails. With a properly designed structure, the roof will be strong and the load will be distributed evenly.

The main board in the crate is placed along the cornice, its thickness should be thicker than the other boards. In addition, where additional roof elements are to be removed, such as chimneys, ventilation and a fire hatch, additional boards must be attached. The very crate is attached after the profiled sheeting has been insulated and ventilation has been removed. Calculation of thickness is carried out with an eye on the height of the profiled sheets and the length of the fasteners holding the profile from the outside.

It is recommended to do the cutting with the step of thirty centimeters or less, for correct calculation of the step, one should not forget about the cross section of the profile and the thickness of the material, as the angle of the roof is reduced, the distance between the boards of the crate must also decrease.

In the ends on both sides, it is required to install the windboards, they are supposed to be located above the main crate exactly at the same value as the profiled sheeting. In addition to the above factors, the step length is affected by the climatic conditions of the region, implying certain loads from snow and hail, as well as the roof slope you have chosen. Separately, it should be said about the creation of a possible gap, aimed at fighting the wind. The sustained load is directly dependent on the height of the profile: the higher the height, the greater the load the construction can withstand.

Layout of material

Layout

If the angle of the roof is up to fifteen degrees, usually install corrugated board type C20, while using a continuous sheath, and the profile sheets are placed overlapping, in two waves. When using a profiled sheet type C35, the lath will be constructed in steps of thirty centimeters and overlap in one wave. Sometimes a step of sixty-five centimeters is possible, but the amount of allowable load is significantly reduced. A step of fifty centimeters is used for corrugated board type C44 or higher.

For prevention and preservation of wooden elements, the boards should be treated with specialized antiseptic compounds. This step will save wood from the spread of mold, and also keep from insects and pests. This action is not necessary, but if you want your roof to last longer, it is recommended to use this advice.

The main fastening material for fixing the corrugated board on the roof is a specially designed self-tapping screw for this purpose. It is a kind of bolt with a drill in the end, and also has a special rubber gasket near the cap. To maintain the style of your roof, the hats on the screws have colors that are similar to the colors of the corrugated board.

Screws fix the corrugated board to the crate only in the lower part of the wave. Also, it is possible to use roof nails and v-shaped fasteners as fasteners. Each of the ways has advantages and disadvantages. It should be noted that the nails perform well when attaching profiled sheeting as protective shields, as well as for facing the walls. V-shaped fastenings are used to secure the profile sheets as a ceiling.

crate Profile sheets are stacked from the bottom to the upper. It must be remembered that the first row of sheets should protrude eight to fifteen centimeters from the wall in order to protect it from undesirable effects of moisture.
