As practice shows, to build a country house is a very expensive activity. In order to reduce costs, many owners decide to cover the roof of the building with their own hands. Recently, the use of a profiled sheet for roofing has been extremely popular.

Overview characteristics of profiled sheets

By definition, corrugated board is considered a universal building material. Similar products cover roofs, walls, floors are being erased, temporary and permanent fences are erected from them. They have undeniable positives, reliability, durability, environmental friendliness and durability. Profiled sheets do not require periodic painting, since the corrugated board is not afraid of sunlight.

Galvanized steel is used for the production of profiled sheets, the surface of which is covered with a polymer coating, which makes the product look like a slate. Today's building materials market offers potential buyers a wide range of types of profiled sheets. They:

• have different dimensions;
• have good anti-corrosion resistance, stiffness and strength.

To create a roof, profiled cloths having a special groove through which moisture is removed are used. Taking into account possible operational, wind, snow loads, it is possible to make engineering calculations and on the basis of the results obtained, choose the corrugated board of the required thickness.

Basic rules for the mounting of the corrugated boards

During mounting, the profiled material, like other profile coatings, is laid with a partial overlapping of the canvas, whose value is determined by the total angle of the slope of the ramp.

In order to properly lay the corrugated board on the roof, it is necessary to adhere to the following recommendations:

• if the roof slope does not reach 14 °, then the sheets are fixed with a horizontal overlap of about 20 cm;
• optimum lapping is from 15 to 20 cm( when the roof is tilted in the range of 15 to 30 °);
• when the steepness of the roof exceeds 30 °, the lining is estimated in the size of 10-15 cm.

In some cases, it is expedient to additionally "grab" all the multitude of longitudinal and transverse joints with the help of silicone or thiocarbon sealant.

No matter how difficult and steep the ramp, the canvases should be clearly laid parallel to the cornice. The latter aligns clearly horizontally. Accuracy is monitored by overhang. Cloths of adjacent sheets are fixed using one self-tapping screw. At the same time, the possibility that the decorative protective layer will be broken is excluded.

Before installing the corrugated sheets on the roof, the dimensions of the eaves can be measured, determined by the height of the profile. The sections are fixed on the roof plane using self-tapping screws( self-tapping screws).For more insulation, the fasteners are supplemented with rubber sealing washers. The upper skate is fixed by screws through the upper "corrugations".

The most optimal option is the use of steam-waterproofing membrane. The latter starts from the ledge towards the ridge. Nails with a large bonnet are suitable for fastening the membrane.

The pieces of waterproofing film are overlapped. In this case, interstitial sag of the material is required, several centimeters in size. The lap joints are fixed with adhesive tape.

In the upper part of the truss legs are equipped with counter-rails, which are designed to protect the membrane from damage during fastening sections. Where the gasket and the first board meet, an air supply must be provided. Equipped with ventilation openings, which are located closer to the ridge.

For the air to exit correctly, the necessary elements are assembled:

• ducts for ventilation;
• special gaps separating the roof plate and the hobby;
• ventilation grilles that settle in the ends of buildings.

When ventilation gaps are arranged, a set of wooden racks is installed on the membrane of the waterproofing membrane, which helps to remove condensate and excess moisture. Each unit must be securely fixed.

When installing the profile, one should take into account one thing: the sheet must be placed so that the edge of the latter passes not along the hollow, but along the top. In turn, the capillary grooves should extend to the outer edge. Raising the roofing material is carried out along the logs with long cables.

Corrugated board is laid with transverse belts, and in the first row is added an allowance of 10-15 cm. Cloths are fixed with the help of roofing screws, where the hexagon head works in tandem with a sealing rubber gasket. When screwing, care must be taken to ensure that the screw enters at a right angle, without any possible distortion. Screws will not stand out if their color matches the shade of corrugated sheets. The sections are fixed on the edges of the canvas, in the middle and in the joints. In other words, 6 self-tapping screws are used for each sheet.

The following belts of profiled sheets are mounted with a 10 cm overlap. Thus, the laying is carried out right up to the ridge. The second slope also fits in the same way.

For overlapping roofing ridge, a traditional galvanized strip( with a width of 40-50 cm) or a special profiled sheet fixed with screws is used.

After the installation work, the roof surface is cleaned of chips and debris, scratches and cuts should be carefully colored to prevent edge corrosion. After three months, it is advisable to tighten the screws, since fasteners on wooden parts can weaken with time.

What can not be done by working with a profiled sheet of

There are several prohibitions that should be considered in the construction and installation work related to the laying of the roof from the profiled sheet. So:

• - do not try to fasten profiled sheets with nails, because there is a great risk that they can be torn off by strong gusts of wind;
• - profiled sheets can not be processed with gas cutting, but welded together.

It is strictly forbidden to cut the corrugated board with the help of a "grinder", because high temperatures can lead to the destruction of polymer coatings( like zinc).As a result, rapid corrosion may develop rapidly. Scissors for metal are allowed to perform only longitudinal cutting of sheets.

If you need to divide profiled sheets, then you will have to use cut-off electric scissors or electric jigsaw.
