Features of the metal siding

This kind of lining material appeared in the construction segment relativelybut today it has become one of the most popular products for outdoor decoration. After facing metal siding, the house acquires a rather attractive appearance. But the purpose of the material is not limited only to the decorative function. The task of such panels is also to protect the building from the negative effects of ultraviolet rays, atmospheric influences, and also in creating a sound-proofing effect. However, it is important to take into account the fact that to effectively solve the functions assigned to the siding, the installation of these panels must be carried out in accordance with certain requirements.

Among the advantages of siding should also be noted such features:

  • material is resistant to various atmospheric influences;
  • with a small mass has sufficient strength;
  • does not contain any toxic elements;
  • does not need to be updated during the entire period of operation;
  • affordable material cost;
  • is resistant to low temperatures and corrosion;
  • wide range of colors;
  • technology of mounting this material is fairly simple;
  • siding is easy to transport.

Preparatory stage

Before mounting the metal siding, the working surface should be properly prepared:

  1. Preparatory actions consist in removing various decorative elements, protruding parts and plants.
  2. If possible, it is also recommended to remove the protruding fragments of the windowsills. That is, you need to delete everything that can prevent the execution of editing activities.
  3. At the end of the workload on the load bearing walls will increase significantly. This point should also be taken into account and properly prepared walls.
  4. Applying the level you need to make sure there are no distortions of corners and walls.
  5. If these defects were detected, the walls should be adjusted during the laying of the crate.

Rules for the installation of the skeleton of the crate

The cladding can be made of metal elements or wood. Each of these materials has its positive properties and disadvantages:

  1. Metal parts are more durable than wooden elements, but also more expensive.
  2. Timber battens are cheaper, but the wood material is defeated by the rotting process and has a high possibility of ignition. However, there are certain rules, the implementation of which will significantly reduce the negative qualities of wood. The moisture level in the uneven bars should not exceed 14%.To prolong the period of the carcass service and to increase its fire safety, it is necessary to conduct the treatment of the beams with antiseptic preparations.

The process of installing the wireframe is as follows:

  1. For the skeleton of the metal elements, it is possible to apply a ventilation run which, in addition to securely fixing the panels, also well ventilates the space under the cover. Or the usual profile. For leveling the crate, use U-shaped elements and special brackets.
  2. When installing the frame, the space between its elements should be determined based on the features of the structure and type of panels. The recommended step of the crate is 30cm-40cm.
  3. Reiki need to be placed at the top and bottom, as well as in the corners and at the joints. The location of the rails also depends on the way the material is laid:
  • if the siding is supposed to be mounted vertically, the slats should be positioned horizontally;
  • with horizontal laying must adhere to the vertical method of location, with vertical installation - respectively horizontal.
  1. It is necessary to pay special attention to the process of installing the frame on brick walls. The fastening of the elements of the battens must be carried out in such a way as to avoid the dowels coming into the seams.

Stage of installation of thermal insulation material

When starting the laying of the thermal insulation layer, it is necessary to take into account a number of features of the working process:

  1. The plates of the heater are laid from the lower section in the upper direction.
  2. In the process of work, it is necessary to monitor the quality of the work performed. Plates must be placed tightly and without deformations. When laying several layers of thermal insulation, the joints must be overlapped or placed perpendicular to each other.
  3. For fixing, use dowels on a plastic base. The number of these parts should be determined from the calculation of 6-8 units / m2.
  4. The reliability of fixing directly depends on the ratio of the dowel and the thickness of the insulation layer. The dowel must be 5 cm above this material.
  5. First, rods are inserted into the holes of the heat-insulating plates, which serve as temporary fixators. They make it possible to make sure the plates are positioned correctly.
  6. After the rods, it must be replaced with dowels. In this case, all the dowels need to be positioned in such a way that the cap of each element fits snugly against the heater.

Features of the installation of waterproofing and windproof material

In the presence of a waterproofing layer, the service life of the thermal insulation significantly increases. And the crate gets additional protection from decay, in case the frame is made of wood or from corrosion, if the framework is made of metal profiles. The windproof membrane is necessary to create a protective barrier against cold air, as a result of which the heat protection of the entire house is increased. The membrane is laid on top of the layer of thermal insulation, with the laying should be performed without gaps. In this case, the condensate will be removed from the insulation material.

Membrane is not the only waterproofing option when installing metal siding with your own hands. For this purpose, a film with the appropriate properties is also suitable. But in this case, you need to leave a small space between the panels and the waterproofing layer, as well as between the heater and this layer. Features of fixing the waterproofing layer mean such factors:

  1. To the frame the film is attached depending on the material. To the wood, the film can be fixed using a conventional construction stapler.
  2. For a metal frame, double-sided adhesive tape should be used.
  3. To create ventilation ducts, counter racks are used.
  4. In the absence of a thermal insulation layer, the material for waterproofing and wind protection is fixed directly to the wall.
  5. If the wall is made of wood, a stapler is used as a fixer.
  6. When working with a brick or stone wall, the material is fixed with plastic dowels.

Rules for the installation of additional parts

Additional elements are corner, initial and final details in the form of laths. They are divided into:

  • simple;
  • complex elements.

Installation of simple elements is made after the completion of installation work, complex set before they start. The following order of installation is done in the following order:

  1. Before installing the siding, you need to install the initial elements. These parts should be placed in the lower part of the lining so that they fit snugly against the plinth.
  2. Further above the cap at a distance of 4 cm markings are made using the level. The upper edge of the bar must coincide with this mark.
  3. Fix the bar with self-tapping screws. The distance between adjacent initial slats should be equal to 6 mm. This space is necessary in case of expansion of the material due to temperature differences.
  4. The last bar is mounted at the junction with the cornice and fixed to the wall.
  5. At the outer and inner corners, complex corner elements must be installed. In the upper part you should leave a gap for filing overhangs.
  6. Below the corner piece is located below the initial bar by 5 mm. These straps are also fastened by means of screws at a distance of 20 to 40 cm.

Jointing elements of complex type and sealant

Sealing is arranged in this order:

  1. The upper edge of these elements must correspond to the top of the last row of the siding. Lower edge should be lowered below the starting part by 5 mm.
  2. Mounting is first performed only at the top. The final fixation can be done by making sure that the bar is strictly vertical.
  3. Fastening is carried out by means of self-tapping screws, when the step is observed from 20 cm to 40 cm. Similarly, after simple installation of the panels simple fitting parts are mounted.
  4. For fixing the additional parts to the openings, an overhead shelf is used. The direction of installation is from the bottom up.
  5. Fastening is performed by means of self-tapping screws in 30 cm increments.
  6. When joining elements on the corners in details, make cutouts in the form of "ears", which then need to be folded down.
  7. To protect the facade from the negative effects of precipitation and cold wind penetration, a heater is used. Fits this material along the slats. First, a temporary fixation with a double-sided tape is performed. The final fixing of the material is effected by the action of the panels laid on top.

Facade-Works-004

siding installation stage The work needs to start from the rear of the building and move to the front side:

  1. First of all the panels are laid on the corners and at the junction points of the apertures. Elements are fixed to the frame by means of self-tapping screws. The fastening is done in the direction from the middle to the edges of the part. Between the screws it is necessary to comply with the step of 30-40 cm.
  2. In the process of installing the panel parts that are near the corner bars, leave a gap of 6 to 10 mm. This gap is required in case of expansion of the siding as a result of temperature changes.
  3. When performing the installation operations under the window and above it, the part should be attached to the opening, measuring the window parameters, the casing and adding 6 mm on both sides to the result.
  4. Then on the siding you should apply the marking in the vertical direction.
  5. Observing these marks with a jigsaw, you need to cut the notch, after 5 mm from the cut you need to attach the hooks to the outside of the panel element.
  6. After the panel should be brought into the slats near the window and snap into the bottom element.
  7. The details located in the final row are inserted in the last bar by the top piece. The lower fragment is set to the penultimate element. Then the parts are snapped and fixed.
  8. Similar to the installation of panels near doorways. If the panels do not coincide with the required parameters, they should be corrected, that is, trimmed. After 6 mm from the cut, the parts are put on the workpiece, which must be brought under the last bar and snapped into the bottom panel part.
