The theater begins with a hanger, and the site - with a gate, which is why it should not only securely protect the territory from intruders, but also to please the eye, fit into the overall style and serve for a long time and trouble-free. Not bad, if the gate will have such qualities as lightness, weather resistance and the ability to install any lock. All these requirements are inherent in wickets from corrugated board, fixed on a metal frame.
Advantages of the wicket from corrugated board
What is corrugated board? This is a metal sheet, which is shaped using a stamping method. The height and shape of the wave varies, and the rigidity of the structure and the field of application of the corrugated board depend on it. For the implementation of vertical structures use profiled sheeting S-8, C-10, C-20.The letter "C" means its purpose - a wall. A figure is the height of the wave in millimeters.
Profiled sheeting is galvanized and painted with polymer paint. The anticorrosion properties of the painted corrugated board are higher, since in its manufacture two protective layers are used - zinc, which provides anodic protection of iron against rust, and paint. The price is slightly higher. Galvanized profiled sheet, in turn, can be painted with a special powder paint.
In addition to durability, we can note a few more advantages. The profiled sheet has a small mass - about 5 kg per square meter, can easily be mounted with special screws, cut with ordinary metal scissors. Cut it with a Bulgarian is not recommended - while burning paint.
Preparatory work for
The manufacture of the wicket must be started from the drawing. Having determined the height and width of the wicket, do the calculation of the material. The standard width of the corrugated sheet is just over a meter, it is slightly different for different brands of profiled sheet. The length of your order you will do any. It is better to order a corrugated sheet according to your dimensions, and its additional dignity will be covered with paint ends, which will increase its anticorrosive properties.
For a skeleton it is convenient to take a pipe of a square section of 20-25 mm. What will be the frame - depends on the shape of your wicket. In advance, draw a drawing, count the length of all the pipes. To the wicket does not warp, do not forget about the stiffeners. They can be made from a pipe with a smaller cross-section.
Support posts, to which loops will be attached, is also better made from a square tube, but you can take another metal. The width of the pipe for the support is about 100 mm. The length can be calculated as follows: determine the desired height of the wicket, add to it 1 m and multiply the result by two. An additional meter of pipe for each support will be buried in the ground and concreted.
In addition, you will need self-tapping screws for the corrugated board, mortise lock and handle, as well as hinges on which the gate will hang.
From the tool you will find useful:
- Bulgaria for cutting pipes;
- Welding machine;
- Sanding machine;
- Screwdriver;
- Level and roulette.
Auxiliary building materials:
- Cement-sand mixture or ready-mixed concrete;
- Bituminous mastic;
- Remains of ruberoid;
- Primer for metal with anti-corrosion properties;
- Paint for metal.
You can buy paint in a can from the manufacturer of corrugated board, it will be exactly the same shade as the chosen corrugated sheet. In addition, it will come in handy if you accidentally scratch it.
Support pillars
You have already prepared a drawing, purchased pipes, and you can not wait to get started. And you need to start it with the installation of supports. This is a very important stage, from its careful execution will depend on how easy and free your gate will open.
The first step is to prepare the supports themselves. With the Bulgarian, the support pipes are cut to the dimensions indicated in the drawing, not forgetting the part to be buried in the ground. Further, if necessary, clean the scale, rust and cover with a primer. Leave to dry.
Meanwhile, they are preparing pits for pipes. They are digging to a depth of 1.2 meters and 20-30 cm above the diameter of the pipe and at a distance equal to the width of the gate, plus 1-2 cm. The bottom is lined with the remains of the roofing material and covered with rubble. Dry pipes on the bottom edge are smeared with bituminous mastic, set in a pit by level and plumb and poured with concrete.
The drying of concrete before its acquisition of performance characteristics lasts from 1 to 4 weeks. But given the light weight of the wicket, you can continue to manufacture it in a week.
The frame of the wicket
The frame, as already mentioned, is more convenient to make of a square tube. It is necessary to cut it with a Bulgarian in accordance with the drawing, lay out on a flat surface and measure the dimensions. If you have not miscalculated anywhere, on both sides of the supports to the frame should be no more than 1 cm. This gap is needed to prevent the gate from seizing. In a rectangular wicket, it is also good to measure the diagonals of the frame - they must be equal.
Pipes are welded, the welding places are peeled off by the Bulgarian, they are brushed if necessary and also covered with a primer. It is already necessary at this stage to provide a place for fastening the lock and handle. It is most convenient to weld additional transverse bars at the correct height, and fasten the lock to them.
While the primer dries, loops are welded to the supports. Try on the wicket in height, and attach the mating part of the hinges to the frame. Once again, the scale is scraped, primed in places of welding and the wicket is hung in place. In the event that the wicket is warped, you need to weld additional stiffeners by fixing the corners.
Painting and installation of the profiled sheet
You can start painting the frame and supports. The paint is applied in one coat and allowed to dry. The profile sheet is fastened to the installed skeleton frame with metal screws. In this work it is necessary to use the level. The sheet is attached to two self-tapping screws at the top and bottom of the frame at opposite corners. Check the position of the sheet in the open and closed state of the wicket. If there are no distortions, twist the remaining screws - at least 6 pieces per square meter. An additional layer of paint is applied to the frame and supports, as well as scratches on the profiled sheet.
profiled sheet. Installing the
lock The place for installing the lock you had to make in advance, during the welding of the frame. The lock is applied to the frame, the keyhole is marked on the proflist and the contours of the hole under the counter part of the lock in the support. The hole is cut with the help of a grinder with a small circle, after which the edges of the hole are treated with a file, tinted and fastened to the mating part. To cut a hole in the proflist, use scissors for metal or simply drill it with a drill.
A wicket made of corrugated board, executed in compliance with all rules, can last for 25 years or more. Profiled sheeting is not afraid of atmospheric precipitation, looks neat and tidy, and if necessary can be removed from the frame and replaced without much effort and financial costs. A wicket from a profiled sheet can become an ornament of a site if at its manufacturing to use imagination.
