Beautiful partition in the bathroom

Pros of

Space zoning is the most popular and constantly used by fashion designers the method of optimization and harmonization of space. With the help of partitions of various shapes and sizes, it is possible to separate the "wet" and "dry" zones in the bathroom or separate the relaxation zone from the places where a washing machine or toilet bowl is installed. What are the partitions and why are they needed?

  • Made of expensive, beautiful wall materials, it may well become the main decoration of the bathroom. For example, glass partitions look great on their own, as they create a feeling of airiness and weightlessness. Complemented with the same painting, or other decor, they look absolutely amazing.
  • The bathroom, especially if it is combined with a toilet, - performs many purposes. In order for at least two people to be in it at the same time, the functional zones can be divided by means of opaque partitions. Partitions of transparent materials can be used if you only want to visually distinguish, for example, a recreation area and a home zone.
  • Partitions for a bath or shower are not only an aesthetic but also a practical solution. Partitions protect the floor, walls and household appliances from moisture.
  • Another important task of partitions in the bathroom is the concealment of communications. Partitions allow you to hide water and sewer pipes from the eyes, while leaving them free access in case of repair.

Materials

Depending on the functions that you assign to the partitions in the bathroom, you need to choose the material for their manufacture.

  • Concrete, brick and stone partitions is the most thorough and capital solution to the problem. From such partitions will not be so easy to get rid of, so you should install them only if you are going to do repairs "for ages".It should be noted that concrete is usually used only for the formation of the foundation, the septa themselves are built of stone or brick. The natural stone looks, of course, much more effective, but it costs several times more than a brick. Those who want to achieve the effect of masonry, you can advise an artificial stone for facing the brick wall.
  • There are two types of glass partitions: one of them is a single glass panel and the others are made of glass blocks. Both have their own advantages. The partitions made of salted glass look more impressive and take up less space. Partitions from glass blocks can be assembled independently, plus they provide additional sound insulation, of course, only if they are deaf. Both options are not cheap, but the effect is worth it.
  • Gypsum boards are used mainly for leveling walls and hiding communications. This is the most inexpensive and easy to implement option. The only drawback is that the plasterboard panels themselves do not look very aesthetic, so they require finishing. Usually, ceramic tiles are laid on top of the plasterboard, but other options are also possible, for example, wall plastic panels. Below we will talk in more detail about the ways of mounting different types of partitions for the bathroom.

Assembly of brick

In order to build a brick partition yourself, you will need: brick, cement mortar, trowel, construction level and partner. The latter is needed in order to supply bricks and cement, but you can do without it, however, working alone, you will spend much more time. If you have a puncher, it's just fine, since mixing cement mortar with it is much more convenient.

Work order:

  • Before starting the construction work, you need to prepare the base: the floor area on which the partition is to be installed, free from the old flooring, remove the debris of building materials and dust, then moisten with water in order to provide better grip.
  • Next, markings are applied to the floor and walls. Do it with the help of a building level. For greater stability, the walls can be cut by a few centimeters, but this is not necessary in the bathroom.
  • The cemented mortar is applied to the prepared substrate, on top of which the first row of bricks is laid. Try to make this series as even as possible, since it will depend on it the final result.
  • During the laying of the next rows, you must constantly ensure that the partition does not protrude forward and does not go through a wave. To control the "curvature" of the partition, pull the cord, which rises to each next row.
  • Lay cement mortar with a two-centimeter layer. During the masonry fill not only horizontal, but also vertical seams between bricks.
  • Do not get carried away! In one day, you can lay out only one and a half meter of the partition( in height), otherwise the solution will not gain a foothold and the wall will "lead".

Glass

Glass partitions can be ordered from a specialist company. The same organizations that are engaged in the manufacture of glass partitions, often engaged in their installation.

The installation of such a partition requires professional skills and tools, so it is better to entrust this work to specialists.

Glass plates with a thickness of 1 cm are used for the production of partitions, which are interconnected by a system of special fasteners. The result is a structure that is resistant to moisture and temperature changes, which is almost impossible to break or break.

Waterproofing is provided by the use of a water repellent coating and acrylic based sealant. The glass can be decorated with a pattern or decorated with mosaic elements. It can be transparent or matte, color or colorless, but, in any case, it will look really cool.

If you plan a solid partition, for example, for a shower, then between it and the ceiling you need to provide a clearance of about 20 cm, otherwise the ventilation will be poor.

Assembling of glass blocks

If the partitions made of glass plates are manufactured and mounted to order, then the partition of the glass blocks can be made by hand. The glass blocks are hollow boxes, 24x24x8 cm in size. They are not transparent, but they perfectly pass light - what is needed for a bathroom that lacks natural light. In addition, the glass blocks provide excellent sound insulation, do not pass water and are not subject to corrosion.

Stacking of glass blocks in the bathroom

There are two ways to create baffles from glass blocks:

  • The "wet" method of involves the use of a tile adhesive or a special glue for glass. Masonry is almost the same as when installing a brick partition, but the glass blocks are not stacked in staggered order, but one on top of another. The blocks are leveled relative to each other with plastic crosses, and with respect to the floor, walls and ceiling - with the help of mortgages, inwhich serve as hammered nails. In one day, no more than 5-6 rows of blocks can be stacked. After the partition is built, give it a day for the glue to dry, after which it is necessary to wipe the seams.
  • The "clean" method, as the name implies, involves less dirty work, hence you can do without adhesive. For the adhesion of glass blocks, special modules are used, made of aluminum, plastic or wood. These modules are attached to the walls and to the floor by screws, and the other with the other and with glass blocks are fastened by means of grooves. Using the "clean" method, in the bathroom you can build a partition of any shape: stepped, with recesses, etc.

Of drywall itself

On the work with gypsum cardboard on our site has been told more than once, as it is often used to arrange bathrooms.

Arrangement of metal profiles for partitions

Therefore, here we remind you only the general principles and procedures for installing gipsokartonnyh partitions:

  • At the site of the future partition, install the metal profiles uw. Depending on the size of the structure, they are installed on the floor, ceiling and walls. Use dowels or self-tapping screws and follow the step of 30 cm.
  • Then reinforce the structure with the carrier profiles marked cw. They are installed in steps of 40 cm and are attached to the guide rail with special screws. The frame is ready!
  • If necessary, cut the drywall and proceed to the skin of the frame. If possible, avoid too much pruning and use whole sheets of drywall, so this will make the design more rigid.
  • Drywall sheets are installed vertically and fixed on metal profiles with screws. The same operations are repeated on the other side.
  • The assembled gypsum board structure can be immediately zadekorirovat. To do this, you can use ceramic tiles, plastic panels, waterproof paint or decorative plaster.

They are made, as a rule, under the order, from the most different materials. Particularly effective is the partition-shelving made of artificial stone.
  • Partition in which the drawer is hidden. This design is also made to order, usually made of wood or artificial stone. Allows the use of free space. The upper part of such a partition is often equipped with a beautiful countertop and acts as a counter.
  • Textile screen. If you do not take a bath too often, but prefer to wash in the shower, it is not necessary to spoil the appearance of the bath with a waterproof curtain on the bar. Instead, you can use a textile partition. It can be foldable and portable, and can be located on the cornice and separate part of the room in which the bath is located. The main thing is to choose a beautiful material that does not deteriorate from contact with water.
