Underground houses - a return to the origins of nature
What you see in these photos is a hotel hosting tourists in Bolzano, Italy, and the opening of which is scheduled for early 2011.Designed by the architect and designer Matteo Thun, although it resembles the houses of fantasy hobbits, it can still offer its guests a complete list of comfort and all possible services that can be obtained by settling here at any time of the year.
But this is not the only environmentally friendly, allowing maximum contact with nature housing. Now projects like this are being built around the world. So enthusiast of the green movement, the star of British football Gary Neville, built an underground house, reminiscent of petals of flowers, which allows sunlight to penetrate the windows throughout the day. The total area of the house is 8000 square meters.
And the next underground house was built by the architect Christian Miiller in the town of Wals in Switzerland. It is hidden from prying eyes from all sides, except one, which allowed to completely protect the house from winter cooling and overheating in the summer.
The next underground cottage hid in the hills of the Reserve Bear Ran. It was built by Frank Lloyd Wright, who built his house so that he was the only house on an area of 5,000 acres.
And the next house is built in a huge cave washed by the rain in an array of sandstone in Fest, Missouri. It was designed and built by Kurt and Deborah Sleiver, who used geothermal heating to heat their homes. Also taking into account the natural movement of air masses in the cave, they were able to do without air conditioning.
The architects of the Swiss "Vetsch Architektur" hid their house under a thick layer of earth, which became a natural insulation, which allows to keep one temperature all year round, without resorting to artificial heating or cooling.
