We are used to the fact that floors are usually spread. Do you know that they can also be poured? Such floors are therefore called filler and are a seamless coating that resembles a normal linoleum, but it looks like a tile in the smoothness.

Pouring the floor

Self-leveling floors can be in different color variations, and their thickness is usually in the range of 1-7 mm. Usually advised to make a coating thickness of 1.5 mm, because thicker floors are expensive, and more thin lose any practicality.

Types

There are 4 types of self-leveling floors:

  • cement-acrylic;
  • polyurethane;
  • floors based on methyl methacrylic resins( methyl methacrylate);
  • floors based on epoxy resins( epoxy).

Let's consider each of these species in more detail.

Epoxy Flooring

Cement-based

A high strength filler, a polyacrylate copolymer and cement are present in this coating. Initially, cement-acrylic floors were intended for industrial use, particularly in the food industry, where heavy trucks and heavy liquids are constantly moving along the floor. The coating on a cement-acrylic base has a high resistance to mechanical stress, it is not so easy to erase or spoil. However, they do not react to spilling a large amount of liquid on them.

Also to the advantages of such a floor is:

  • resistance to peeling even with the appearance of cracks in the base;
  • matte surface with anti-slip characteristics;
  • versatility, as this coating is suitable for freezers, and for a device inside or outside the building;
  • no need for too scrupulous alignment;
  • impressive thickness of 8 mm.

However, such floors are difficult to mount, so the need for their installation should be justified.

Polyurethane-based

Polyurethane-based floors are often used in residential buildings.

Advantages of this coating are the following:

  • in themselves the floors have a long service life, lightness and elegance;
  • strength and reliability of such a floor does not cause any doubt;
  • floors are resistant to mechanical stress, shock. They are not subject to abrasion and do not absorb water, so they are a good option also for office or commercial premises;
  • such a floor is absolutely insensitive to thermal effects and has a high degree of hygiene, so it can be installed in rooms where they work with food or medicines.

But in the installation polyurethane floors are quite "capricious".A certain humidity should be observed, which in no way should be high. When installing in large quantities, the material is consumed, and this is quite expensive, and, in addition, this coating requires a very scrupulous preparation of the substrate.

Based on a polymer-based

This coating is based on methyl methacrylate resins. Due to the use of different amounts of additives, it is possible to change the properties of the floor, for example, making it more or less flexible, hard, heat-resistant. The advantages of such floors include:

  • versatility: they are mounted in production and industrial premises where representatives of absolutely any areas can work. In this case, such a cover can be made on the street;
  • resistance to temperature changes and UV rays, so this floor can be mounted even in the freezer of an industrial facility;
  • ease of installation, which can be performed in the cold season.
Polymer floor based on methyl acrylate

However, there are also disadvantages here:

  • coating very quickly hardens, and because of this, it is necessary to carry out installation very quickly;
  • a sharp unpleasant odor, which requires constant airing of the room.

Epoxy

As it is already clear from the name, epoxy resins become the main components of such coating. Conveniently, as the base can come not only concrete, but also wood or metal. Most often, epoxy fillers are used in industrial facilities where there is a high probability of chemicals falling onto the floor. Such a coating is universal for laboratories, shops, food or pharmaceutical industries.

Other advantages of the epoxy floor include:

  • high resistance to chemical attack, as it became clear from the scope of application of such coating;
  • is environmentally friendly, which makes it possible to put this coating even in residential areas;
  • practicality and easy maintenance.

But the epoxy floor has a low elasticity, so where there are strong mechanical damages, such coatings are not suitable.

3D

This species should be described separately. Most often, 3D floors are used all the same in living quarters, since they have a rather original appearance. Thanks to a special layer of finishing finishes, you can get beautiful three-dimensional images that will be admired by everyone who sees this spectacle.

For 3D coverage, you can use ready-made images of high enough quality or draw something yourself. This gives great scope to the imagination, allowing to create art works of art.

It is more expedient to install 3D floors on a large area, so that the 3D image looks more realistic.

Manufacturers

The development of the construction industry has given a wide scope to manufacturers, so now it is possible to purchase mixtures for bulk floors of different brands. Of course, you always want to save money, but it's better to buy floors from more or less well-known brands that have been selling materials for years on the market.

The dry mixes for bulk floors of the following manufacturers are of high quality:

  • Knauf : offers the best value for money. German brand very much values its world-wide name, therefore it guarantees the use of the best materials;
  • Will establish : the company has been on the market of building mixtures for more than 10 years and offers worthy materials for the creation of self-leveling floors;
  • Horizon : under this name are produced mixtures for bulk floors from the company "Yunis".On the construction market, the manufacturer has been holding for more than 20 years, and its products are known throughout Russia and the CIS countries;
  • GLIMS : another Russian manufacturer, which consumers have trusted since 1994.Has a wide range of construction mixtures, including for self-leveling floors;
  • Weber-Vetonit : manufacturer of world-class dry mixes. It is part of a French manufacturing company;
  • Volma : Volgograd Corporation, which has achieved a recognized level of quality in the production of dry construction mixtures.

Calculation of consumption per 1 sq. Km.meter

The flow rate of liquid floors per square meter depends both on the manufacturer and on the expected thickness of the coating. Under normal conditions, approximately 1.3 to 1.7 kg of mixture per square meter are consumed. With a known thickness of the floor, it is not difficult to calculate the amount of the mixture used.

Drying time

The time for which the floor will dry will depend directly on the manufacturer, the type of flooring, the thickness of the coating and the climatic conditions in the room. If you take room temperature for 18-20 degrees, and humidity - for 60-65%, then the floor will dry quite quickly. Take, for example, a mixture of Knauf. With a layer thickness of 2 to 15 mm, it takes 3 hours to dry the floor so that you can walk on it. But the final drying requires one day for every millimeter.

When using a mixture of Horizon and a coating thickness of 1 to 10 mm, it takes 6 hours to dry for walking and 2 to 7 days before final hardening. In Weber-Vetonit, the last parameter is generally 1-3 days.

Prices

The cost of the filler coating also depends on the particular situation taken. Here the producer of a mixture, a kind of floor, the area of the room plays a role. The services of specialists in laying the floor are also paid differently everywhere.

Self-leveling floors for industrial premises are cheaper than 3D or monophonic coating.

If, for example, you plan to lay floors with a 3D effect, then prepare that the total amount can reach 1900 dollars for a small room .

For larger rooms, the cost of the filling floor per square meter will be lower.

In monophonic floors, the total amount can reach up to $ 1,000 for the entire amount of work in a room of up to 10 square meters.
