Self-leveling polymer floors

The floor is a floor covering without joints, based on polymer.

This material is divided into several types, depending on the components that make up the composition.

Self-leveling polymer floors are used for residential and industrial premises.

Technology and device

Self-leveling polymer floorshands can be made in two versions.

For smooth surfaces, as an additional finish, a thin layer is used, having a thickness of 300 μm or more.

This layer of material is not generally placed on the floor, but is used as a waterproofing, reinforcing the walls or ceiling, as it does not withstand heavy loads.

For residential rooms a high-density floor 4 mm thick is made, such a device of polymeric self-leveling floors gives them sufficient strength.

In case of compliance with the technology of installation of polymeric self-leveling floors, they will have the following advantages:

  • high wear resistance and strength;
  • antistatic;
  • hygiene;
  • resistance to various chemical compounds;
  • increased fire resistance;
  • easy surface care;
  • no seams;
  • long service life;
  • large selection of combinations and colors.

Preparatory work for

You can make polymer bulk floors in an apartment on your own or by using the services of masters.

If you prefer the first option, check out the technology and recommendations.

Preparing the floor base requires the following tools:

  • metal brush;
  • rule( rake length of two meters);
  • roller;
  • brush;
  • cuvette;
  • scraper.

For assembling the polymer bulk floor in a garage or apartment, prepare the following tools:

  • Drill with low speed with a special nozzle;
  • Needle roller for eliminating air bubbles;
  • Spatula for distribution of solution in corners, at doors, under batteries, etc;
  • Mop with installed clearance for uniform laying of material on the surface.

Additional materials that may be needed:

  • sand for mortar required for sealing small defects in the floor;
  • solvent for degreasing the base of the filling floor.

The base can be wood, concrete, ceramic tiles or metal.

Preparing the base from the wood

It is necessary to dismantle the old skirting boards, check the surface for humidity( should not exceed 10%), for the absence of stains from oil, glue or paint.

After that, you should sand the surface and dust it off with a vacuum cleaner.

The wooden substrate can be deformed under the influence of moisture, in this case it is better to pre-fill the screed on the floor beforehand. With a thin layer of the filler floor, cracks can form.

Substrate preparation of concrete

For concrete flooring, concrete is the most suitable substrate, with a permissible moisture content of 12%.

After cleaning from stains of oil and paint, the concrete surface is leveled, ground, dust is removed with a vacuum cleaner.

It takes 21 days to fill the new substrate, after which the installation can be continued. On such a basis, polymeric bulk floors are industrial.

Preparing the base of ceramic tiles

Ceramic tiles should have good strength to the base of the surface.

To check the strength of the tiles, you need to tap the entire surface: in places where there is a dull sound, voids are formed.

The marked tiles are removed, and the cavities found are primed and plastered with a repair solution( the composition of the solution is discussed below).

In the next step, the tiles are degreased with an organic solvent and rendered rough, after which a primer is applied and then epoxy resin-filled industrial floors or household floors are installed.

Preparation of

metal base Oil and paint stains are removed from the metal surface, then it is degreased and treated with sandblasting or sanded to remove corrosion products.

Further, a rough surface is created and dust is removed by means of a vacuum cleaner in order to further make the polymer polymer floors by hand.

Installation of liquid floors

When preparing mortar, do not listen to the advice of neighbors, it is better to use the manufacturer's instructions, as each component has its own proportions.

Materials for polymeric self-leveling floors should be mixed thoroughly so that air bubbles do not penetrate the solution and do not leave lumps of components.

Professional builders recommend using an electric drill with low revolutions with a special nozzle instead of a drill.

As such a nozzle, you can make a "butterfly" made of wire. You can use a construction mixer, but it is far from each master.

Mortar laying starts from the far corner of the room and gradually needs to move towards the door.

With the help of the needle roller, during the work, it is necessary to roll already laid mixture to remove the remaining air.

At this stage it is possible to mount liquid polymeric 3d floors that are distinguished by a more quirky design due to volume patterns and images.

Self-leveling floors with a polymer coating should be treated with varnish. This procedure gives the surface shine, greatly facilitates the care of the floor and increases the life of the surface.

Lacquer coating is chosen light, it is desirable that it was polyurethane.

The self-leveling polymer filler floor is painted in at least two layers, making time for the varnish to dry.

Industrial floors are treated with varnish in the same way, but the number of layers should be increased.

Usually the drying time of the prepared solution is about half an hour. One person obviously does not have time to fill the whole room, so it is necessary to take care of the partner in advance.

You can use special shoes with sharp and thin spikes, if the room is large in area.

In such shoes you can walk on a fresh solution finishing something or correcting.

After painting the floor with lacquer, walk on it is recommended only after 48 hours.

Two days later, the polymeric self-leveling floors you installed will be ready for operation.

Prices for services and materials

If you decide to buy a polymer bulk floor and entrust the installation of a specialized company, the cost of their services will cost you at least 600 rubles per m2.

The prices for polymeric self-leveling floors are increasing taking into account the material used and the scale of the room.

If you are confident in your abilities and decide to put your flooring skills to reality, you will need to purchase a mixture for the floor and prepare it at home.

The cost of a self-leveling polymer floor based on polyurethane is on average 250 rubles per kilogram, and based on epoxy material for a couple of rubles more expensive, there is practically no difference.

Transparent and white filler floor is the most expensive and will cost you about 350 rubles per kg.

In most cases, the larger the bulk of the floor that you have purchased, the higher the percentage of the discount you will be provided by the supplier, store or directly manufacturer.
