A few years ago I was taken aback by the construction of the attic floor in the house. How and what built attic, as well as what criteria the selection of materials - this is my story. I will also give an assessment to use the solution in the first three years of operation.

The attic floor is used the attic space under a pitched roof. The cold attic is different:

Staircase and balcony
The second floor had no choice but to provide a separate entrance: strengthening plate overlaps with the subsequent installation of internal stairs would absorb a significant part of the budget.

The basis of the balcony design became the steel frame:

- Leaking in securely seemingly embedded sheathing joints water made OSB rot. Flooring should be changed. To replace I plan to use laminated plywood 21 mm thick impregnated with binding ends of hot linseed oil;

- A spiral staircase looks good, but it is very inconvenient to carry dimensional materials (the same CAP) and furniture. Who would you prefer a straight staircase in two flights.
For truss system was purchased bar section 100x50 mm. Roof - broken line; roof inclination angle varies from 20 to 70 degrees to the horizontal. Rafters tied to each other bolts.
Compound crossbars with rafters and between rafters is performed with bolts or pins with wide washers. Screws do not provide a sufficiently reliable connection between the bars.

Warming: Bilayer. Directly under strongly heated stowed roof 50-mm layer of mineral wool. The foam of the same thickness vrasporku installed between the rafters; gaps in the insulation zapeneny.
Vapor barrier: Furniture stapler stapled to the rafters.
evaluation: OK. The noise in the rain roof is almost completely absorbed by the two layers of insulation. The quality of insulation above all praise: when the summer sun is at its zenith, the air in the attic is not heated at all.
From skylights in the roof, I decided to give two reasons:

- From the windows in the roof have a view of the walls of higher neighboring buildings. Accordingly, the window would provide an excellent overview of the interior of the attic rooms in my house with other people's roofs.
However, the view of the sea and mountains from the ends of the attic has to install the panoramic windows, and I decided that the gables of the attic floor are made of glass.

evaluation: Satisfactory. At the panoramic windows in the conditions of the Crimea it turned out some pretty significant drawbacks:
- At sunrise and sunset, when the sun shines through the windows, attic heats up;
- Room lighting is comfortable only on cloudy winter days. Sunny summers it is excessive and interferes see anything on the computer screen;
- attic decoration is visible from the neighboring buildings located above the slope.
As a result, large and provides an excellent overview of the window most of the year curtained blackout curtains.

Construction and installation of attic windows were completed by the end of summer 2013, and I immediately proceeded to interior decoration.

Paint any drywall construction can be at least two weeks after the sealing of the joints. Otherwise the seams will be highlighted in color with any number of layers of paint.
evaluation: Cracked at the seams does not appear for three years. The ceiling is completely retained its original appearance.
Plasterboard ceiling and the walls look the same as after the finish.

Fine finishing: The walls are covered with wall panels made of MDF coated vinyl film. As adhesive may be used liquid nails, PVA or silicone sealant. I applied a spot-on silicone.

evaluation: Great. Vinyl panels does not collect dirt and is easily washed from the traces of dirty little hands. Due to the minimum thickness of the walls of useful floor area of the attic is almost diminished.
In a wooden house for finishing the external walls is better to use full battens, but not its imitation. Natural wood is permeable to air and does not interfere with gas exchange to the street.

Gypsum plasterboard partition walls in my attic perform two functions:
- Shared attic room (room and bedroom);

evaluation: There are no cracks. Minor contamination on the painted surface there were only about a switch.
Basis floor - flooring from 15 mm OSB on logs. Supporting platforms lag fastened to the plates overlap is not quite usual - not anchors, and the mounting foam. By SIR paved surface of the substrate and moisture resistant foam laminate 32 class.
evaluation: Satisfactory. And not without drawbacks:
- In some places, the floor creaks. Laghi better strengthen traditionally anchors;
- Laminate "breathes", in winter, at low temperature and humidity between the boards appear slit. Who would you prefer quality laminate linoleum.

It is made compulsory: responsible for air bleed channel fan diameter of 100 mm and a capacity of 105 cubic meters per hour. The main volume of air is taken through the ceiling bathrooms, lower part - in the space between the roof and ceiling.
Return air enters through the four vent grille disposed on the perimeter of the ceiling.

material duct: Sewer pipe diameter of 110 mm, laid over rafters tightening bolt.
Venting of the street: Through the gable on one of the windows.
evaluation: OK. The air is always fresh, odors and dampness in the bathroom available. Condensation on windows does not appear even in the most severe cold.
The last stage was the installation arrangement of the attic in her performance inverter air conditioner 12000 BTU (4,1 kW heat output). He is also responsible for heating in winter and air conditioning in the summer air. Instructions to the device allows it to work on the heating at -25 ° C on the outside, which is quite enough for the soft climate of the Crimean.
evaluation: Great. The air conditioner minus 20 supported in the attic area of 60 square meters quite comfortable + 20 ° C. Summer heat also is not terrible: at +35 in the street and bright sun beating through the window in my office the temperature never rose above 25.
The only source of heat in the attic area of 60 squares - inverter air conditioner.
