After a while, such wood covers begin to crack and, as a consequence, creak. The appearing crevices complicate cleaning and worsen the appearance. The cause of the creaking is usually the breakdown of the ridge of the tongue-and-groove joint. Repair of such defects consists in rallying and replacing boards. For rallying, remove the skirting boards, with the help of an ax, gently lift the boards, pull out the nails that came out. Before re-laying the boards, you should again check the lag laying, the presence of leveling pads.

Begin rallying by nailing a board close to the wall, then pressing 3-4 boards with a gap of no more than 1 mm.

The boards are nailed to 2 times their thickness. Nails should be drowned by 2 mm.

If plywood is available, the surface can be repaired very quickly. It is driven and chamfered at 45 degrees. The surface is smeared with oil paint or glue with a layer of 3 mm and a sheet is laid. The crevices formed in the parquet cover are first cleaned with wire, and then closed with putty, which consists of sawdust( mainly oak or birch) and joinery glue. The damaged slats should be carefully removed, the cleared space should be cleared, the glue should be poured into it and a new bar must be installed. After installation, the bars are leveled with a plane, sanded with sandpaper and cover the parquet floor with varnish.

Repair of linoleum

Laying linoleum on the floor with your own hands using glue, it is much more reliable than nailing it. The base and the back side of the linoleum should be primed, and allow the primer to dry out. Spread the base with mastic, leaving 2 cm from the edge. We put the sheet and smooth it, say, a bag of sand, laid on the litter. The next canvas is laid with a two-centimeter spacing. The edges should be cut after a few days, when the linoleum mates with the base. Cut with a sharp knife at an angle of 90 degrees. After trimming, the edges are turned up, the base is smeared with mastic, and the edges are glued. The mastic is wiped off, the seam is closed with paper and the board is loaded with a load. A week later the load from the linoleum is removed. In principle, it is not difficult to do it yourself, as you can see.

Repair of tiled floor

Broken ceramic tiles are removed together with the mortar. You should be careful not to damage whole tiles. The cleaned base of the tiled floor is washed with water. The new tile is laid on the cement slurry( 1: 2) according to the level of the floor and is moistened for several days. In other words, simply replace the broken tiles.
