The first stage of making a collar with your own hands is a careful marking of the roofing sheet according to the specified dimensions. Gnut cut workpieces in such a way that as a result of the details of the lower and upper parts of the side aprons turned out to be paired: two right and two left.

Half of the collar is joined with single folds, after which they are soldered by the turtnik. Fold connections can be replaced by water-directed bends that are first riveted with 2-3 rivets having a diameter of 2-3 mm, and then sealed.

Depending on the size of the dormer, it is covered with one or two paintings. Before you begin to make paintings, you need to perform measurements of the crate in order to establish the diameter of the base of the window, the length of the half-cone on the side, the length of the half-cone along the slope.

Then, according to the received dimensions, a drawing of the window is made by one's own hands( front and side view), along which the roofing sheet is cut taking into account the allowances for the overhang and folds and two pictures are prepared.

The collar of the dormer window consists of one front and two side aprons, harvested in accordance with the specified dimensions on the workbench using a kayak and bar-mandrel.

First, on the front apron, the short side flaps are bent and then the long flap located between them. On the side apron, firstly, the joint edge is folded, and then the edge laid on the crate. The long edge is bent at right angles, and the short narrow edge is piled onto the plane.

The dormer windows are covered with the same material as the whole roof. Particular attention should be paid to cutting the places of their connection with the roof slope.

The protective cap of the vent or chimney hood consists of a cover and four sidewalls.

From the sheet steel, cut the blanks according to the patterns. In the sidewalls, the droppers, the upper rectangular rims and the edges for the rebated joint are folded. In the cover, cut a hole corresponding to the size of the chimney and bend the inner edges. Then the lid is connected by angled folds to the sidewalls.

Umbrellas serve to protect smoke channels from penetration of atmospheric moisture. In shape, umbrellas are pyramidal or conical.

For the production of conical umbrellas, a roofing steel having a thickness of 1-1.5 mm is suitable, and for pyramidal umbrellas, 2 times thinner steel is suitable.

To perform a sweep of the conical umbrella, draw a circle of the desired diameter, then draw two radii from its center so that the angle between them is 35 °, make allowance for lapping, and then cut the workpiece.

Next, the edges of the workpiece are connected and fixed with 3-4 rivets, from the outside to the umbrella 3 posts are fastened, also using rivets.

To perform a sweep of the pyramid umbrella, you need to draw a square of a given size, connect its opposite angles to diagonals, forming 4 triangles. One side of the triangle is cut, along the cutting line, the workpiece is moved apart by an angle of 25 °, the allowances are made for the rebated connection and the hem.

The preform is slightly bent around the sides of the triangles, and then connected by a closing rebate. Four posts are attached to the outside of the umbrella. See also the installation of drainpipes by yourself.
