The purpose of the tiled roof is not only to cover and protect the roof from negative external influences, but also to perform the function of decorative decoration, often unrecognizable transforming a small holiday cottage and making it look like a fairy-tale house. In addition, the tile roof has a number of advantages, including long service life, fire safety, ease of installation.

The device and installation of a tiled roof

The mass of the tile is quite significant, therefore the design of the crate must weigh more, for example, the crate for asbestos cement or asbestos cement. The roof slope should be at least 40-45 °.

The roof underlayment, which will subsequently be tiled, is made of wide boards or wooden bars having a cross-section of 0.5 x 0.5 or 0.6 x 0.4 cm. The prepared bars or planks are laid out along the line of the cornice, taking into account thatThe attached tile of the upper row should easily fit into the whorl of the tile of the lower one.

The number of horizontal and vertical rows of tiles must be equal to an integer.

Attaching boards or bars follows, directing them from the ridge to the cornice. After completion of the erection, it is necessary to lay boards 15 cm wide at the edge of the ledge.

To make the tiling work more convenient, it is better to attach the equalization rail along the cornice edge of the board.

Next, raise the roof tiles to the roof and lay out on the walkways up to 5 m long, so that it is enough to compose 2-3 rows. Subsequent work of the roofer performs, sitting on a triangular bench attached to the crate for security.

Flat strip tiles can be laid in two ways: scales and two layers. Regardless of the method, the masonry is carried first from the main stingrays, then to the hip fins and lastly to the ridge.

Flat strip tiles on the main slopes should be laid parallel rows running from the ledge to the ridge in such a way that the tile of the lower row is covered with tiles of the top. Each odd number should be completed with whole tiles, and even - with halves. As a result, the bricks should move slightly relative to each other.

Tiles of the first row should be hooked with spines for the inner edge of the two lower bars of the crate. The components of the second row of tiles are attached to the upper part of the tile of the first row. Bricks of successive rows are fastened in the same way as the tile of the first, and at the ridge - in the manner of the second.

The roof tile laid along the pediment and cornice tiles, regardless of the angle of inclination of the roof, is attached to the beams of the crate. In the remaining rows only the second and third shingles shall be affixed.

Flat ribbon tiles are fixed on the beams of the crate with the help of nails and clamps, which can be driven in pairs. In the first place, you should hook the shingles with the thorns behind the battens, then on the entire row you need to install the clamps so that their horizontal lap is on top of the tile, and under the left it would be possible to bring the next brick.

Lapels visible from the outside, later overlap the overlying series. The ends of the clamp are attached from the attic to the bars of the crate.

Types of tiled roof and application of

Tiled roof photo Now there are several types of flat band tiles.

The most common type of tile is the "beaver tail".Put it in a row on a specially prepared solution( the way of its preparation will be described below).Usually the material consumption is 32 pieces per 1 m2.If the tile is supposed to be laid in two rows, then the consumption will be 45 pieces per 1 m2.

To prepare the fastening mortar, it is necessary to mix the previously sieved sand, lime and cement in a proportion of 5: 1: 1 and pour water. Then the resulting mixture should be thoroughly mixed, controlling its consistency. The ready solution should not be too greasy, because, hardening, it can strongly shrink, forming cracks. Strict compliance of the quantity of cement taken is necessary. Otherwise, the solution will be excessively strong, provoking significant material losses during repair.

In addition to the "beaver tail" shingles, they often use a "baking" tile or Dutch tile. Lay it with scales, attaching with the help of nails or a clip to the beams of the crate.

The slotted strip tile differs from the flat one by the presence of a longitudinal groove-groove intended for optimal bonding of materials.

Slotted tile is used to cover simple roofs, one- or two-slope. It is fixed in one layer in the direction from the pediment, along the ledge, to the ridge, where the rows are parallel to each other. Spreading the tile, you should make a drop: along the length - by 0,7-0,8 cm, and on the width - on an equal width of the groove size. Usually, the first two rows of roofers are stacked, standing on the scaffold or scaffolding, the next - sitting on a benched triangular bench.

Difference between slotted shingles from the two above is the presence, in addition to longitudinal, of the cross-cuts. Thus, along the entire perimeter, the bricks are fastened together by closed folds, which prevent moisture from entering the roofing.

Stamped shingles are laid in one layer, observing the direction from the cornice overhang to the ridge and making an allowance for the length and width of the tile for the length or width of the fold.

To the crate, it is attached with the help of a wire stretched through the eye of a brick. She tied her shingles to the nail previously knocked into the bar.

Upon completion of work, the horizontal joints to be formed must be carefully smeared with straw cutting mixed with a solution of lime and sand, cement mortar with the addition of tow( hemp), clay to prevent blowing of the tiled roof by winds.

The ridge and ribs of the roof are trimmed with ridge trough tiles, specially made for this purpose. In this case, the skate must be laid with tiles in the direction from top to bottom, and the edges in the reverse sequence, that is, from the bottom up.

Next, the joints of the ridge and ribs should be sealed using a galvanized steel roofing rosette and a cement mortar prepared shortly before. Tiles must be placed on the mortar and secured with a wire to the nail, previously driven into the bar of the crate. See also other types of roofing materials and choose a more suitable one.
