Manufacturing of CIP panels - what is it?

This invention combines the heat-insulating and structural properties of building materials from which it is made. Externally SIP is styrofoam, sandwiched between two layers of OSB.

For the possibility of combining several panels in the supporting wall, a wooden beam is inserted into one of its ends, and on the opposite end the protruding edges of the OSB plate form a distinctive groove on the opposite sides of the edge for inserting the beam of the other panel. Such a connection, called a "spike-groove", does not allow the formation of "cold bridges" and ensures uniform thermal insulation of the entire surface of the wall of the house.

In addition, the bars with the connection of several SIP elements form a kind of skeleton of the house, which significantly increases its strength. The fact is that according to the Canadian technology mentioned above, the skeleton as such is not provided for, and all the workload of the house falls on extremely strong SIP-cells.

tool The manufacture of self-supporting self-supporting panels also assumes the presence of projecting edges of OSB-3 plates, the main feature of which is a certain orientation of the chips: in the upper layers - longitudinal, in the inner - transverse. There are different types of OSB, but the production of our elements requires the use of OSB-3.

From what has been said above, we see that the self-manufacturing of SIP panels seems to be quite possible, and for its successful implementation, a table somewhat larger than the SSP sheet will be required. More complex equipment for SIP panels is not a primary necessity, but if desired, it can be manufactured on its own.

So, for example, the device that applies glue for SIP panels can significantly speed up the process of their manufacture. To get rid of some inconveniences, a press for SIP panels could also be used, but in its absence, the vacuum pressing method can be applied. But we are somewhat distracted from the question of how to make the CIP panel itself.

Making SIP panels - how to proceed correctly?

We put a sheet of OSB on a large table and apply an even layer of glue on its surface. For this purpose, as we already mentioned, a special device can be made. If it does not, use a rubber staple or spray. The manufacture of SIP panels requires well-defined types of glue, such as, for example, TOP-UR 15 or Kleiberit .

To a large extent, the consumption of glue depends on the application method, but on average one-two-kilogram will be needed to produce one SIP.

When making a SIP panel with your own hands, the speed of operations is very important, so that the applied glue does not have time to dry out. So, on the OSB sheet with the glue applied to it, we put the styrofoam and, having leveled it, also grease with glue. Over the expanded polystyrene we put the second sheet of OSB.

In the same order after the first, already ready to press SIP panel, we prepare the second, then the third, fourth and fifth. Now we need to determine how to create pressure on the five prepared elements to better grasp the glue. If there is no press, then the issue can be solved by vacuum pressing.

For this, the stack of SIP panels is covered with an ordinary awning cloth, the edges of which are tightly pressed or glued together at the bottom of the stack. With a powerful vacuum pump we evacuate the air from under the awning to create a pressure within 1 ton / m2.In this state, we leave the entire structure for one hour.
