Standard slag block dimensions and calculation of the required quantity for construction

Artificial wall stone, or as it is often called a cinder block, is made by vibration-pressing the concrete-sand mixture in special shapes, thanks to which the blocks are produced from various volumes by voids inside, which determines their excellent thermal insulation properties and lightness. An important advantage of the cinder block is its rather low cost, which led to its popularity in the construction of small buildings by private landlords.

Dimensions and rules for calculating the

slag block Before the start of construction, the required number of cinder blocks is usually calculated, for which it is necessary to know its dimensions. So, the standard size of the cinder block, which is manufactured industrially:

  • 390 mm in length;
  • 190 mm wide;The
  • is 188 mm high.

By volume, one wall stone is equivalent to 4-5 bricks. Less common are the following dimensions 400 × 200 × 200 mm and 395 × 195 × 195 mm. Actually, these are industrial sizes, but since slag blocks are often made independently( there is nothing complicated in this), the shape can be made somewhat different in size, which is necessary for the builder. The standard size remains unchanged - 390 × 190 × 188, but here the volume of internal voids can vary as indicated in the figure. Proceeding from this, there are such types of wall stone: with hollowness of 40%, 30% or 20%, as well as solid blocks, without voids.

size-cinder block

When calculating the required number of cinder blocks, we use a simple formula: for example, you need to build a wall in half a block. In order to calculate the area of the wide face of the block, multiply the length of the block by the width, for example, 390 × 190 mm. It turns out 74100 square meters.mm or about 0, 074 square meters.m.

 To calculate the number of blocks per 1 square meter of the wall, you need to divide the unit by the result, expressed in square meters.m.: 1 / 0,074 = 13,51.Rounded, we get the number 14. This number of blocks will be required for building 1 sq.m.walls of the building. Then multiply 14 by the area of your wall, which is supposed to be laid out, and we get the total number of blocks.
