The slabs, called "OSB"( oriented particle-board), have replaced traditional wood chipboards. Without dwelling on the characteristics of the new building material, it is worth noting that if for the CPD there are standards, then for the OSB( Western marking - OSB) they simply do not exist. In other words, each Manufacturer decides what dimensions the plates should have.
Naturally, all the "numbers" are taken not arbitrarily, but taking into account construction rules, norms, analysis of application of products and so on. There are only approximate, indicative parameters for similar products, which are divided into European and American. But this does not mean that they are the only ones. There are enough products on the market, which is called "non-standard".
The main dimensions of OSB boards
- The most "running" - 2,440 per 1 220( mm).These products we have known under the brands "Arbec", "Norbord" and some others.
- Plates of the same length, but with a width of 590 mm are used, as a rule, for the arrangement of a dry screed. They are different and external finish - their edges are piled. As an example, you can bring products of the company "Norbord".
- European version - products with dimensions of 2 500 per 1 250( mm).In the Russian market representatives of such "europroducts" are plates "Kronospan", "Glunz", "Bolderaja", although they are not the only ones.
Non-standard dimensions of
boards As an example, we can cite the products of the most famous manufacturers.
- "Norbord NV"( Belgium) - 2,700 per 1,200( mm).
- Kronospan( Austria) - 2,800 per 1,250( mm).
We considered only linear dimensions of slabs. But all of them are classified, in turn, and in thickness, which determines the scope of the material.
- Arrangement of the rough floor, the production of packaging containers and in a number of other cases where the expected load on the slab is small - 6 or 9( mm).
- Solid crate for some roofing materials, partitions, arch structures and so on - 12( mm).
- Flooring, exterior cladding of buildings - from 15 to 25( mm).The thickness is selected based on the interval between the rails of the supporting frame.
- Recommended ratios( thickness - separation of the elements of the battens):
- 15 or 18 - at 0.5 m;
- 18 or 22 - up to 0.7 m;
- 25 - more than 70 cm
It should be noted that the dimensions of plates of known brands have minimal deviations from the declared parameters( thickness - up to 0.3 mm, length and width - up to 3 mm).It is these "tough" requirements that guarantee the quality of the finish( no gaps, mismatches).
