Any construction( repair) involves finishing almost all surfaces( external and internal walls, floors and ceilings).As a rule, a prefabricated "structure" is constructed from layers of hydro, steam and sound insulation, as well as a heater. Given the specifics of our climate, the latter is given special attention. If many developers( owners of housing) are not particularly worried about the "couple" and "sound", everyone thinks about the warmth in their home.
In the market there is a significant range of products, which to some extent reduces heat loss. Naturally, any material has its own characteristics, which determine its application. More recently, there was another "product" - penofol foil. Let's try to figure out what its technical characteristics are, and whether it makes sense to give it to this particular material.
Foamed penofol is nothing more than foam polyethylene, which has a coating of a thin layer of aluminum( the finest foil).It can cover the base either on one side or with two. The majority of buyers are interested in what a good product is, and technical experts are delving into specific technical details. Especially since the dimension that stands after the numbers is often understood only by professionals. An ordinary person is unlikely to be interested in, for example, the modulus of elasticity. Therefore, consider the properties of this product in order to determine the appropriateness of its use, ease of installation and the final cost of work.
Features foil foam
Versatility
In addition to insulation, the material provides a high-quality vapor barrier, so when it is used, there is no need to arrange such a separate layer. It also extinguishes the noise well, hence it also performs the function of a soundproof coating. Its structure also prevents penetration of moisture. It turns out that the installation of foam foil with foil makes it unnecessary to lay 3 other materials( films, membranes and the like).
The versatility of penofol is also evident in the fact that this product can be stacked almost everywhere - inside and outside, at any humidity. For example, minvat in "damp" premises use no sense, since it absorbs liquids. A penofol equally suitable for finishing walls, floors, roofs, basements, loggias, septic tanks and so on.
Small thickness
It is much smaller than that of analogues. By the way, this factor sometimes complicates the interior decoration of rooms with thermal insulation materials, as the corresponding construction "conceals" at times a significant part of the area, which is well felt in rooms with modest dimensions. Therefore, we must abandon the relatively cheap minvats in favor of another, more expensive and difficult to install products. The thickness of penofol is in the range from 3 to 10 mm.
Variety in the performance of
This assumes certain convenience in laying. After all, different surfaces have to be finished, with different methods of fixing the material. Penofol is available in 3 versions:
- "A" - foil on one side;
- "B" - double-sided foiling;
- "C" - combined. On the one hand - aluminum coating, on the other - self-adhesive layer.
There are products with perforation, reinforcement and a number of other features.
Resistance to external influences
The structure excludes the penetration of moisture through the material. It is possible to use in the temperature range from -60 to +110 0С.
High quality thermal insulation
Manufacturing technology ensures that the heat loss does not exceed 3 - 4%.This figure is higher than that of traditional heaters( penokleks, minvata, expanded clay).The presence of the foil allows the material not only to stop the penetration of heat into the structure, but also to "reflect" it back into the room.
The ability to maintain a steady microclimate
In principle, the effect of penofol creates a thermos effect. Therefore, you do not have to intensively "chase" the boiler in winter, and in the summer - air conditioning.
Simplicity of laying
Penofol is flexible, so it is possible to insulate not only the planes, but also corners, pipes and other elements with complex configuration.
The light weight allows to do without a supporting frame or any additional fastening. Installation can be done on the basis of any strength.
Penofol is easily cut, even by conventional scissors. This is especially useful for warming in places of laying utilities( pipes, cables, trays).
And what's more important - for its installation will not require the services of specialists who are free of charge, as is known, do not work. This material is widely used for the warming of loggias and balconies - read about it in detail here.
Environmentally friendly
Now much attention is paid to this issue. Given the experience of using this material, there are no complaints from this side.
Low cost
Probably, this is the most attractive "characteristic".On average, the foil foam foil finish is 3 to 4 times cheaper than the other insulation. And if we add here savings on other materials of isolation, then this indicator becomes even higher.
Prices depend on the manufacturer and type of products. But if we focus on average values, then the cost of 1 m2 of foamed foil is the following( in rubles):
- "A" - from 39 to 65;
- "B" - from 62 to 90;
- "C" - from 100 to 235.
