The electric jigsaw was invented in 1946 by Albert Kaufmann, who replaced a needle in the sewing machine with a blade. Since 1947 it has appeared on sale, and in 1954 the company Bosch bought it. The main difference of the electric jigsaw is its functionality and quality of sawing. Depending on the operations performed, the jig saws are divided into several types:

- Professional - easily tolerates high loads, is productive, convenient, able to work 8 hours;
- Industrial - meets all the requirements of a professional electric tool, it is necessary for a large number of tasks.
There is an electronic jigsaw from the case with a flat platform and handles. Inside there is an electric motor and a mechanism that drives the blade into motion. Stationary jigsaws do not have a handle, but the platform is placed on top. The guide is located vertically in the front of the mechanism. In the lower part is a retractable blade, which, when the engine is running, moves, making a cut.
The principle of operation is as follows: the clamping device securely secures the saw blade( cutting element) in the slider. Advantages and disadvantages
Like any tool, the electric jigsaw has both advantages and disadvantages. Let's look at them. To the merits, undoubtedly, is the fact that there is an extensive production of a wide variety of saws that can work with a variety of materials due to the varied shape of the teeth and pitch adjustment.
This affects the cleanliness of the cut and the ability to use the tool to perform a large number of operations, including with plasterboard. Fastening of the blade takes place on one side, so it is possible to cut at any distance from the edge of the parts, and this also does not let the canvas break. To work with such a tool is much easier than mechanical.
The main disadvantage is the fastening of the blade only on one side, which makes it difficult to make thin saws, such as in mechanical jigsaws. This affects the increase in the minimum radius of the bend line of the saw. The process of sawing thick pieces is slowed down by the short movement of the web, which worsens the chip output.

- For wood, the maximum speed of the drive must be used.
Important! Avoid sawing on weight! Be sure to fix the part, this will free the hand, make the cut better and relieve the cutter from heavy loads.
And last: when sawing laminated chipboard often there are chips. To solve this problem, turn off the pendulum stroke by setting it to 0. Better in this situation, use a clean stroke of the saw. It will also be useful when working with solid materials - this will prolong the service life of the blade.
