Hand saws for wood saws
Fabrics are divided into two large classifications: for wood and for metal, which, in turn, also have their own varieties. Consider the canvases for working with wood.
Saws for quick cutting. They are used in cases where it is necessary to quickly cut a large amount of material. Such cloths have large teeth, because the more they are, the faster the cut will occur. However, the sawing will not be very smooth and with jagged edges, but it is quite suitable for erecting a shed or a fence. Films for these purposes can process material with a thickness of up to 200 millimeters.
Jigsaw jigsaw for a clean cut. The tooth of such canvases is much smaller, and as a result, the incision is more smooth. They are used to build furniture to get a smooth and without a chipped cut. Most often with their help is cut fiberboard, plywood, wood-shaving panel. Also they can work with thick boards, up to 75 millimeters, but this is much more complicated and longer than with a large-tooth attachment.
The laminate file is made in such a way that its teeth are directed in the opposite direction, in comparison with other nozzles. It is arranged so that at a cut no chips are formed on the front side of the material, which will spoil the appearance. The teeth of such a canvas are small.
Note! All these canvases can be used for cutting a tree, but improper selection will complicate and prolong the execution of work.
Blades, cutting steel
Files for metal also have their differences, but they always have small teeth. Often, to be easy to distinguish, the tail of them is painted in blue. Such a nozzle can be worked with metal up to 6 millimeters and plastic. For cutting aluminum, canvases with larger teeth are used. Combined saws are used for cutting both metal and wood. Their design is such that on one side of the canvas are placed large teeth, and on the other side - small ones.
Note! Combined cloths are not easy to work with, as the working surface is divided by different lengths of teeth. This reduces the cutting amplitude during operation, and the cutting is more difficult and longer.
Cloth for cutting ceramic tiles along the edge has a special carbide coating, which allows to saw any kind of tiles. The price of such a cloth is much higher than that of other types, and it costs three times as much. All kinds of saws are clamped into the tool with a special key, the clamping mechanism is less common.
Nuances of selecting saws
As we have already understood, nail files for hand-held jigsaw have their own spheres of application. But the question arises, how to choose them correctly? For a correct choice, it is necessary to take into account a lot of factors, starting from the material of the product, ending with their purpose. Consider these factors:
- Quality of steel. All the canvases have their own marking, which denotes the material from which they are made. So, carbon steel is necessary for work with wood, plastic, fiberboard and chipboard. Here the importance of the elasticity of the metal, rather than its hardness. Hardened high-speed steel is used for cutting metal, it is hard, but more brittle. Films of hard alloys combine the properties of the two previous canvases.
- The size of the canvas. For cutting a tree, longer saws are used for a jig saw, and for a shorter saw.
- The size and shape of the teeth. This factor was discussed above.
- The shape of the tail. The most widespread saws with 1-2 stops and a semicircular notch on the end.
Important! Some firms produce canvases that are suitable only for tools of their own production, it is necessary to check before buying.
