Why do I need a jack?
All hydraulic tools work on liquids, including a hydraulic jack. By its design, it is single- and double-plunger, and by drive type - manual and electric. The main components of the structure are the body, the retractable piston and the working fluid. Due to the fact that oil is one of the main elements of the whole unit, the oil change in the jack becomes a frequent and necessary procedure.
Main advantages of hydraulic jacks - rigidity of construction, smooth running, stability, ability to lift large loads, precise braking, high degree of efficiency. Thanks to its device, this lift can lift the load from a level equal to its base. This makes it more versatile than mechanical installations. However, a more complex system causes more problems with repair when it breaks down. In this case, you can either take it to the repair shop, or repair the jack yourself.

Jack repair: self master
A jack failure can be caused by several factors. First, it is possible that corrosion has formed in the structure, which serves as a stopper for lowering the mechanism to the required level. Secondly, failure can occur due to excessive loading, which led to the bending of the rod. Now we know the possible reasons for the failure of the mechanism, but the question arises, how to repair the jack? For this, first of all, it is necessary to know how to disassemble it. Then simply check the state of corrosion and rod.
The jack is a cylinder inside which the stem moves under the action of hydraulic fluid. In its device, a lot of thread on the rods, base and body. Disassembly and repair of it is carried out in the following order:
- Using the keys, all fasteners are unscrewed;
- The oil bleed valve and the primary piston are removed;
- When doing a thorough inspection, check the quality of the gaskets and ball valve. If their condition is unsatisfactory, then replace them with new ones;
- The mechanism is cleaned of foreign elements and the system is flushed;
- Immediately fill with new hydraulic jack oil;
Important! What kind of oil should be poured into the jack for reliable operation? It is recommended to use special oil for industrial equipment of exceptionally high class .
- Checking and, if necessary, changing the old gum;
- The unit can then be assembled in reverse order.
Oil change for one-two
Despite the fact that breakdowns still happen, more often you have to change the oil for jacks. Oil is an indispensable part of the design that drives the entire mechanism. Naturally, for reliable and correct operation, the quality of the liquid must always be good. How to fill the oil in the jack and what is needed for this? To work, you need a new oil and a washing fluid. No tools you do not need. The oil is replaced as follows:
- The filler plug is turned off and the old liquid is drained;
- The mechanism is cleaned with flushing fluid. For a complete washing, this procedure is repeated several times;
- The oil is poured into the tank to the maximum level, the plug closes and the system is pumped. Liquids with each pumping will become smaller, so it will need to be poured. The pumping is carried out until the bubbles appear and the oil level becomes maximum.
Important! For complete oil pumping, the procedure must be repeated at least six times.
How to change the oil in the jack correctly? This is done without any burden on the mechanism. Use the unit for its intended use only after a complete replacement of the liquid. This procedure is carried out at least twice a year with rare work. If the mechanism is used more often, the replacement should be carried out every month with a complete washing of the system.
