Which paint should I use?
Before proceeding with the process, it is worth choosing the right mix. To cover walls and ceiling inside the premises, water-emulsion compounds are well suited. They are easily bred with ordinary water and non-toxic, and quickly dry.
This is justified by the fact that the water entering into their composition evaporates or is absorbed into the substrate, and the emulsion spreads over the surface. They are excellent for concrete, stone, wooden bases. Also these formulations "breathe", that is, the colored surface has a sufficient degree of vapor permeability.
This is very important, as the indoor climate improves. Of the water-based paints, one of the recommended brands is Tikkurila. In the event that you are going to apply the composition to external walls, then oil paints will do. But they dry much longer and have a specific smell.
What color?
There are different rollers, which are subdivided in size and depending on the material from which they are made.
For foam based paints, foam rubber rollers are suitable. They are not very durable, but cheap. In the event that you intend to apply enamel or oily composition, it is better to use velor or fur rolls. Also popular are polyamide filaments. The length of the pile in them is selected depending on the desired relief. The deeper the relief is needed, the longer the pile should be. Such rollers are able to create the necessary surface texture, they are well washed, durable and will last for more than one year.
But it should be noted that it is important to handle them with care, as any sloppy movement can lead to spraying with paint. There is also one more type of these tools - textured rollers. They help create the desired pattern and shape.
Small, medium and large rollers are also distinguished in size. The first two types are used in home repair, others are used by professionals.
How to paint a wall with a roller?
After you have decided on the composition, the question arises - how to paint a wall with a roller? For this you need the following tools and materials: bucket, rag, roller, spatula, paint, brushes, primer under the appropriate surface, putty, emery, paint tray and paint tape.
Roller painting technology includes several stages. First prepare the room. A paint tape indicates the boundaries of the application of paint. Then the base is treated - leveled, shpatlyuyut and primed. Then rub the rough areas with sandpaper. When the grinding process is finished, to remove dust dust the whole surface with a damp cloth.
In the next stage, the paint is diluted according to the instructions written on the package, putting on glasses and starting to work. It is best to apply the composition from the corner of the room. The movements are carried out with a brush crosswise, that is vertically from top to bottom and horizontally from left to right. After painting the walls with a roller in the up and down direction, so that the letter W appears.
If you do only vertical movements, then the surface will form traces that will spoil the whole appearance. The roller itself is not completely placed in the paint during operation( the axis must remain dry). After finishing the painting on the first day, the tool should be left overnight in a bucket of water. At the finishing stage the paint tape is removed.
