What are the tools and materials for
? Decorative plaster is a little different from what we are used to understand under plaster. This is the finish coat applied in a certain way. The classification of this group of materials depends on the type of binder and the size of the filler. Binders can be mineral( cement and lime) and synthetic( acrylic, styrene-acrylic, polyvinyl acetate resins).Most often synthetic resins are used in the form of their aqueous solutions. Mineral binders, usually used for exterior decoration of buildings.
Fillers of plaster serve as granite and marble chips, quartz, a mixture of fillers, and therefore there is a classification of the size of inclusions - coarse-grained, fine-grained. The last plaster is used for interior decoration, but certain rules and recommendations do not exist, all individually.
Types of plaster are as follows:
- dry mix;
- ready mix based on synthetic binders;
- decorative plaster to create a specific type of coating( bark beetle, Venetian and others).
If you want to make decorative plaster yourself, then it's easier to take a ready mix for internal work, rather than bother preparing it from a dry mix. Mixtures for certain textures are used solely to obtain exactly these textures and no more will be obtained, no matter how hard you try.
For work, we will use some special tools:
- bucket or bowl for diluting the mixture, if you take ready, then enough of the native bucket;
- trowel;
- scraper;
- the semifinished;
- rollers, brushes, baths, brushes, scallops;
- spatulas;
- drill-mixer.
Tools are better to choose stainless, otherwise steel is quickly corroded and will leave an ugly red mark on the walls.
How to apply decorative plaster by hand. Ways.
Beautiful and intricate plastered walls - this is not a beginner at all. Ways to decorate the walls in this way were known since antiquity. So, first prepare the surface. It should be clean, dry and smooth, without cracks. Preliminary, the wall must be primed, which will ensure better adhesion and durability to the coating. Before using, be sure to read the instructions, it may be necessary to do some additional preparatory work.
We know of such methods of applying plaster:
- The method of spraying, which can be called by other names, for example, the "snowball" method. Doing it the easiest way - first apply one layer. After it dries the second and already on it various devices are used to obtain beautiful reliefs, right up to the broom. For example, the application process looks like this: take a broom, dip it into the mixture of plaster and shake it off the broom on the wall. Sprays lie randomly in the form of flakes, spray, the size of which will depend on the consistency of the mixture and the density of the broom. Very effective is obtained if you use contrasting colors for the first and second layers of plaster.
- Relief surface with a trowel. Any drawings are done again on top of the first layer. Just reading about this method is useless, it should be at least once to see and then you can easily repeat the whole action.
- The billing process is done by applying several layers of plaster and painting the surface layer.
- HatchingThe second still fresh layer is covered with a metal brush. Then the walls must be dried for 24 hours, after which the sponge or rags should remove all the crumbs from the wall.
- Stamping with a roller. Roller can be purchased special with a ready-made pattern or simply fantastically wrapped around it with a rope, then you get an impression of the grass stems.
- "Sgraffito".With this method it is necessary to suffer a little, it is more difficult, but its unusualness and beauty cost a lost time. On the wall are applied several layers of the mixture, and each other color, chosen according to your taste. After the last layer is applied, curly windows are cut out on the stencil and the space inside them is carefully cleaned. It turns out a kind of applique on the wall.
