Mosaic plaster, as the main decorative material in the decoration of premises

Application of mosaic plaster

Apply decorative mosaic plaster to a well prepared surface. The walls must be leveled and cleaned of dust, dirt, bituminous and grease stains. Align walls can be plaster, cement, lime-sand plaster. Or you can even out the surface drywall.

The leveling process should be taken with all responsibility, as the mosaic plaster will be applied a thin layer. And if the walls were not aligned, then all kinds of flaws and curvature of the walls will be visible, which in the end will only spoil the appearance. It is worth noting that you can not apply this plaster to heat-saving and lime plasters, as well as to walls that are made of artificial materials.

Preparing the mixture

If a dry mix of bags is to be used, it should be prepared for operation. Some of the material is poured into the bucket, filled with water and mixed with a low-speed drill. The proportions of the plaster material and the mixing water are indicated on the packaging. If the ready-mixed mixture is used in the banks, it can be used immediately in the process.

By the way, the ready mix in banks is much better and better dry because the proportions and consistency are calculated by the technologists at the plant. And they mix quite accurately with observance of all rules by means of special machine tools. Thus, ready-to-use mosaic plaster will not differ in consistency and shades, which can not be said for dry plaster with manual dilution.

The plaster consumption directly depends on the size of crumbs, granules. The larger the pellet, the greater the material consumption. Each package always indicates the consumption of the mixture per 1 m2.On average, it is about 3-7 kilograms per m2.

Application method

As already mentioned, the application of mosaic plaster is assumed to be on a flat, dry and well-primed surface. For better adhesion( adhesion), it is also possible to treat the substrate with a "plaster lining paste".

The application of decorative plaster is carried out using a grater, which is made of stainless steel. The method of application is called "wet on wet".With this method, it is not allowed to dry the wiped part before applying a new one. Level the layers of the plaster with a float so that the thickness of the layer is equal to the size of the grains.

If you do not use this method and allow the first part of the rendered plaster to dry, and then apply the second part, the joints will be visible. This greatly damages the appearance and aesthetics of the entire coating.

The drying time of the plaster is directly dependent on the surface type, relative humidity and air temperature. On average, this is 12-48 hours. In conditions of high temperature and humidity, the drying time may increase.
