Sticky flizeline wallpaper by own hands

If you decide to make repairs and change the paper wallpaper to nonwoven, then you need to master how to glue non-woven wallpaper.

For a long time people have been trying to equip their house and create a beautiful interior in it.

In ancient times animal skins were used as an analogy to modern wallpaper.

They were dried and placed on the wall. After the invention of the fabric, it also began to be used as a decoration, first nailing to walls, and then fixing with glue.

The first prototypes of the current paper wallpaper in an industrial way were manufactured in Europe from the beginning of the 16th century. They were all the same cloths.

And the art of decorating walls with wallpaper paper came to us from the East, from where medieval Europe borrowed many design elements.

In the 17-18 centuries, simultaneously with the development of industrial production, the tradition of paper decoration entered the life of a man.

Of course, the canvas is difficult to glue, they often tore or when they were stuck to the walls formed a crease.

These were used before the beginning of the 1980s, while more modern analogs were not put into mass production-meter-long non-woven ones.

Modern technology allows not only to glue non-woven wallpaper, but also to make their painting.

When wallpaper is called non-woven or paper, it means only the base - the lowest layer.

The topmost layer on which the pattern is applied and can be embossed is called a coating.

Now there are several wallpapers that differ in coverage - paper, vinyl, acrylic and textile.

The most popular are paper nonwoven wallpaper or non-woven fleece with vinyl cover.

advantages of non-woven backing

paper basis - very strong, non-woven, consisting of celluloseand synthetic fiber.

The main point, in which the paper and wide non-woven wallpaper are significantly different, is the absorbency of the adhesive.

For high-quality gluing of paper, you need to apply glue and wait a few minutes until it absorbs.

With flizeline wallpaper this is not necessary - immediately after applying the adhesive, the sheet can be fixed to the wall.

They can be glued on plasterboard, plaster, fiberboard, wood and even on concrete walls.

The non-woven base is breathable, so when gluing to concrete walls, glue drying and strip peeling are avoided.

Flizelin is not afraid of water, so wet cleaning of the non-woven fabric is permissible. Resistant to stretching, not shrinking, they are great for painting.

To refresh the appearance of rooms, it is enough to paint the wallpaper with acrylic or dispersion paints.

The relief applied on the non-woven base allows creating the illusion of relief plaster on the walls.

Non-woven fleece blankets are wider than paper webs. Wide sheets allow you to reduce labor costs for cutting and gluing, as well as reducing the consumption of material.

After drying, they look like a single whole canvas - absolutely imperceptible joints of neighboring sheets.

Widespread non-woven wallpaper designed for painting. This allows you to create your own unique room style. They look great when glued to the ceiling.

Advantages of non-woven fabric as a finishing material are obvious, an additional advantage in their favor is simple sticking.

Instructions for gluing

Consider how to properly glue non-woven wallpaper. Do everything in stages.

Preparation of walls

It is necessary to clean the old coating, remove the stubborn plaster and paint or plaster the stains. As a result of the preparatory work, there are sufficiently smooth walls without any color spots.

It is not necessary to achieve a perfectly flat surface( as is the case with photo wallpapers).Preparation for marking walls can be done in one of two ways.

In the first case, we will draw a line along which we will align the canvas at the top of the wall, and all meter strips will be the same length.

This method is acceptable if the difference in the height of the walls is 2-3 cm and it can be hidden under a decorative plinth.

In the second way, when wide stripes are glued from the ceiling to the floor, it is better to use at a height difference of more than 4 cm.

In this case, you will need to use a flexible decorative plinth made of foam, pasting it along the perimeter of the ceiling.

Preparation of wallpaper for gluing

You need to start by measuring the height of the walls in the corners. Excellent, if on opposite sides of all walls the height is equal. In this case, the wallpaper can be cut off one by one.

It often happens that in the corners there is a different length at the top and bottom. If, in addition, the floor and ceiling are not strictly parallel to each other, then the gluing technology becomes more complicated.

In any case, first we will start to glue corners, and the last strip will remove the possible roughness, cutting off its right edge at an inclination. Where to start - choose you.

The most convenient way is to start gluing the walls from the window or from the door jamb. If possible, plan the layout of the sheets so as to avoid joints in the inner corners.

If the room has external corners( for example, there is no door between the corridor and the living room), then it is necessary to calculate that there is no junction in the corners.

The corners are glued so that the distance from them to the edge of the sheet is not less than 4-5 cm.

Measure the height on a roll of wallpaper with a small margin, make a shallow serif, bend the wallpaper along this line and cut with a knife on the fold.

If the wallpaper pattern does not require adjustment, then in order to cut off the second and subsequent strips correctly, it is necessary to measure the height of the wall at the place where the second strip is pasted.

Tip - if you cut strips immediately onto all walls, number them in pencil from the back side. This will not get confused.

Slightly harder to cut the wallpaper, requiring a fit. Usually the distance to be taken into account when fitting is specified in the accompanying instruction.

Consider the process on an example - the height of ceilings is 2.5 meters, and the fit is 20 cm. It is necessary to choose a number( greater than the height of the ceiling in total with the reserve), which would divide by 20.

In order not to be mistaken,2.8 meters long.

When wide sheets of suitable length are cut, numbered and folded in the order of gluing, it can be considered that the preparation is complete and proceed with the wallpapering of the walls.

Preparing the adhesive mix

When all the strips are cut, then you can start the glue dilution. Use the adhesive recommended by the wallpaper manufacturer. For non-woven wallpaper, use only special glue.

It is not difficult to prepare a glue solution - measure the amount of water indicated in the instructions to the adhesive, heat it to the desired temperature, if required.

Now, slowly add the powder to the water, stirring constantly. Leave the mass to stand for the time specified in the instructions, after which remove the not dissolved lumps. The glue is ready.

Pasting of

sheets The non-woven base has a smooth, non-delaminated edge, so the sheets glue to each other.

The advantage of non-woven linens in front of conventional wallpaper is that when gluing the adhesive is applied to walls, not to wallpaper.

More often than not, applying glue paste on the walls, however, carefully read the instructions, some manufacturers also recommend gluing non-woven wallpaper.

Apply the adhesive mass, attach the cloth, align it, and with slight movements from the center to the edges squeeze out excess glue.

Make sure that there is a sufficient amount of glue in the corners of the blade. When the first sheet is pasted, then the next sheets are aligned on it.

If you do not need to combine the pattern, then the next sheet of glue to butt, aligning the label.

And here's how to glue non-woven wallpaper, if you need to combine the picture - we apply glue mass, apply a strip, with the movement of hands on top or down we combine the pattern.

Strips are wide and docking will take some time, for which the glue will start to grip.

If the preparation for alignment failed at the first attempt, then move the strip without special pressure up or down, not allowing it to solidify with glue.

It's convenient to combine the wallpaper with the mouse, fixing the left edge of the canvas with your left hand, and the right one on the right.

Slide the blade along the glue mass smoothly, do not make sharp movements.

If after docking you noticed that the glue came between the strips, then just remove it with a damp sponge, the non-woven base is not afraid of moisture.

Trimming the strips after docking, make sure that the top and bottom edges are hidden by a decorative skirting board.

Sticky sheets on the ceiling

Whether to glue the canvas on the ceiling or decorate the ceiling in another way( for example, to make a suspended ceiling or multi-level gypsum plasterboard) - the decision is for the owner of the room.

If the ceiling is smooth and does not need plaster, then cover it with non-woven wallpaper does not present any difficulty. Watch a video on how to cover the ceiling( the system is common for all types of material).

To hide possible errors in the corners, between the ceiling and the wall, provide a decorative ceiling skirting.

On the ceiling, it is best to look wide white linens, pasted along the length.

Coating

After painting or after some time on non-woven wallpaper, it is possible to paint. There are two types of painting - completely a sheet or only a relief part.

Painting should be carried out with a roller( in case of painting only the embossed part a roller of rubber is used).

Interesting three-dimensional effect can be obtained if the painting is done only on the reverse side of latex paint before gluing.

In this case, the base will change color, and the relief part will remain unpainted.

Painting is really much later( for example, when you want to change the design of the room). In this case, before you start painting, you must thoroughly vacuum the non-woven coating.
