Types of stainless steel pipes
First of all, it is necessary to understand what steel is. Steel is an alloy of chromium, iron and other impurities. This material is quite strong and popular in the field of construction and industry. Steel pipe is the most common product made of stainless steel.
The main types of steel pipes:
- conventional gas: supporting, fencing, water supply, etc.;
- main pipelines used for the installation of gas and liquid supply systems, for example, water, oil, natural gas and fuel;
- pipes, which are used in systems with high pressure, for example, in the chemical, nuclear and oil industries;
- drilling, auxiliary and siege components, which have a wide application in the development of oil fields;
- structural elements made of steel;
- pistons, shaft rings, pump cylinders and other parts used in engineering.
By appointment and appearance, stainless steel pipes are electrically welded, steel-boiler, seamless and others. All products made of steel are chemically treated to avoid the corrosive effects of corrosion.
Classification
Today the pipe industry is the most important component of the whole Russian metallurgical complex. Steel products are widely used in the fuel and energy industry, in machine building, defense industries, the construction industry, and also they are used for the construction of the country's pipeline system, where the pipes are based.
Products are produced in a wide range of diameters, steel grades, wall thicknesses and a variety of accuracy classes. They have high strength, ductility, low weight and are used for industrial installation.
The general classification of steel pipes is based on the methods of their manufacture. Depending on the method of manufacturing products, they are divided into welded and seamless. Welded products are produced with a diameter of up to 250 centimeters. Seamless products do not have a longitudinal seam and are made of solid material in three stages. Such pipes have a maximum diameter of up to 150 centimeters.
Important! Welded pipes are cheaper than seamless, but they are less durable and reliable.
Marking
The marking on steel pipes is used when the product diameter is more than 159 mm and the thickness of its wall is less than 3.5 mm. An exception may be the customer's refusal to mark products whose diameter is less than 114 mm. Typically, the code is applied to the product by the following methods:
- with an indelible paint;
- by branding;
- using an electric pencil;
- with the help of an electrograph.
Important! The choice of the method of applying the code depends on the thickness of the walls of the product and on its diameter.
The product marking includes the pipe size, manufacturer's trademark, and the steel grade from which the product is manufactured. The grade of steel used is indicated in the form of a four-digit code in compliance with all classification standards.
The code is applied to a steel pipe in steps of up to 0.5 meters and more than 2 centimeters from the end of the product. The code is necessarily framed with bright paint. This is necessary to ensure that the marking is visible to the consumer, while it should be easy to detect, as it carries full information about the characteristics and method of manufacturing the goods.
