Penoplena - what is it for?

Isoplene and foam foam - what's the difference?

What are these materials? Both are similar in composition, have a paper basis, and also come in various modifications.

Isoplen is a polyvinyl chloride film applied to a paper substrate. It is moisture resistant, it can be safely washed with warm water and even using detergents( it is better to use liquid soap or a mild dishwashing detergent). The material is conditionally divided into three types.

  • AB has a foamed relief surface in one color solution and a different thickness - 2.5 or 4.0 mm.
  • BV has a thickness of 0.6 mm, also foamed, has a pattern in several colors and is protected by a transparent polymer layer.
  • The third type - B - the thinnest( thickness 0.45 mm), protected by a transparent layer, often also multicolored.

All types of this material are produced in rolls having a length of 6 to 25 meters( the most common form is 10 m) and a width of 50, 60 or 75 centimeters.

Foam is also a two-layer material that is obtained by applying a foamed polyvinyl chloride paste onto the base paper, and then subjected to heat treatment. They produce this finishing material in a different color solution, with a huge variety of patterns, which can be either geometric or fantasy or simply free relief. This type of coating is produced under the numbers: 1 - with a thickness of 0.9 mm;2 - 1.6 mm;3 - 4.5 mm. The length of the rolls can be 6, 12 or 20 m with a width of 500-600 mm.

Application of foam foam

In its essence, foam foam is wallpaper, and accordingly, the material is intended for finishing walls and ceilings inside heated rooms. The material was most widely used when creating interiors in the kitchen, in the hallway, and in the bathrooms. It is not recommended for bathrooms, because prolonged high humidity, as well as overheating or exposure to low temperatures lead to deformation and detachment of wallpaper from the walls. In this case, all repair must begin anew.

Among the restrictions on the application can be noted the following.

  • It is recommended not to store or use this material in rooms where the temperature drops below + 10 ° C for a long time. Also, do not glue( and store) this material at a distance of 1 meter from the heaters, otherwise it may deform.
  • Before using foam foam, it should be held for at least two days in a room where the temperature is kept at a level of at least 18 ° C.
  • It is also forbidden to use it in children's institutions and places of mass stay of people, as it relates to flammable materials.

In the rest it is environmentally friendly, it is convenient in gluing and further operation.

How to glue a foam wallpaper?

Polyvinylchloride finishing materials( polyplene, foam, isoplen, vinisten) are widely used not only for the final decoration of walls, but also instead of gluing wallpaper on the ceiling. They are glued easily, especially if you first carefully level the walls( ceiling) with plaster, plaster or plasterboard. For gluing the ceiling using roll materials that have a PVC coating, it is best not to use wallpaper glue( even heavy ones), but "Bustilat" or "Humilax".

This coating looks modern and, importantly, for a long time retains a decent appearance, does not require any special care, and in case of need - it can be washed. In addition, it is an excellent alternative to expensive repairs.
