General characteristics of tile adhesive
Adhesive for tiles is made on the basis of sand-cement mortar, in which mineral and organic plasticizers are added.
The main positive indicators of this composition:
- is easy and convenient to stack;
- high water retention characteristics;
- reliable fixation of the material, that is, it does not slip;
- high elasticity characteristics;
- high adhesion values under various conditions of solidification.
Adhesive compounds are brought to the ready state on the construction site in compliance with the manufacturer's instructions. Use the tile solution should be in dry weather, while avoiding exposure to sunlight.
Surface preparation for
linings Before finishing, the surface must be cleaned of dust, dirt, grease stains, various kinds of coatings and other substances that can adversely affect adhesion. Clean the surface using a steel brush, spatula, sand or water jet. And in order to remove fat spots, take special solvents.
When all dirt is removed, the surface must be dust-free. As a rule, compressed air is used for these purposes. The influx is removed manually with a double-pointed hammer or chisel.
If defects are found on the surface, work must be done to remove them. Defects are usually referred to as: cracks, shells, chips, irregularities, potholes. Such defects are eliminated by putty solutions. Before you begin to surface treatment with tile adhesive, it must be applied with a common ground solution or composition that strengthens the base. The choice depends on the quality of the surface that requires the cladding.
The primer is applied manually with a brush or roller, and mechanically using a spray gun.
Important! To ensure the horizontal and vertical surface of the surface before applying the adhesive, it is necessary to plaster it with leveling solutions.
Technology of laying facing tiles
Important! Facing works should be carried out in a temperature mode from +5 to +30 degrees and at humidity of air up to 70%.
A ready-made glue composition for the outer tiles is applied with a spatula, 3-5 mm thick( depending on the size of the tile), then it is distributed by the tooth side of the spatula over the whole surface of the material. It is necessary to do this in one direction. The size of the denticles on the spatula depends on the size of the ceramic tile - the more tiles, the larger the size of the denticles.
Tile adhesive is applied to a surface, the area of which can be tiled in 10-15 minutes. The time of the "open state" of the adhesive depends on the ambient temperature, air humidity, porosity of the substrate, and also on the thickness of the applied adhesive layer. The facing tiles are laid on the prepared surface and pressed into the adhesive composition by turning movements.
If the tile is laid on the floor, then press it into the glue using a rubber hammer, tapping lightly on the product. The seam should be no more than 2 mm thick. Tile glue guarantees reliable fixation of tiles, however, they can be adjusted for 20 minutes immediately after laying. Noticeable hardening of the glue solution usually occurs after 2-3 hours.
