Spacious houses from glued log

If you had to hear from the carpenter "impossible" in response to a request to fold logs from the logs in the future, it does not mean that the master does not know his business well, just logs, like any other materials, havedefined maximum length. According to the norms, the size of the round timber is 6-6.5 meters, although there are also non-standard ones, up to 12 meters, but it is difficult to saw and dry such logs, even when using the rounding procedure.

Some carpenters are able to connect the round logs with butt-ends, using screeds, but these places need to be caulked every year, as are the joints between the crowns. Another thing, when the masters collect houses from glued logs, there really is where to clear up, because its length is almost unlimited.

Glued cylindering has the qualities inherent in both the carriage, and the natural round timber, and the profiled beam. And with all this, the carpenter can not limit himself in the scope of the project, since the length of elements for wall masonry can reach even 14 meters, despite the fact that it is impossible to work with them without the help of a crane.

Logs are glued from individual lamellas, uneven bars, on which shorter round logs are sawed. The composition of the glue is selected in such a way that the wood does not lose its natural conditioner properties. The strength of such a material is extremely high, which makes it possible to build architectural designs of any complexity.

What is better: glued beam or round log?

According to its properties, round logs, by removing sapwood fitted to a single standard, are not inferior to the profiled beam obtained from a regular log in the same way. Solid wood structure, cleared from the upper, softer layer, serves for a long time without undergoing rotting of .

However, many carpenters have the opinion that it is the sapwood that turns the roundwood into a natural conditioner, while the harder core of the barrel consists of dead cells and practically does not let air pass. One is indisputable - in the additional processing of the wall from cylindering do not need.

With regard to the timber, then, with all the desire, being drunk entirely from the log, and reaching 12 meters in length, it would not have sufficient strength, and evenness would be in doubt. The same can be said about any round wood. If the question arises that it will be necessary to choose glued beam or round log, preference should be given to the first, despite the undeniable merits of the second.

The fact is that due to the assembly of individual parts, each of which is processed with all due care, the glued beam is devoid of any defects possible with materials cut from the round timber. Unlike the log house, the house, assembled from glued timber, does not need a caulking of joints. The shrinkage of such a house is microscopic, and therefore immediately after the completion of the construction work, it is possible to put frames and doors, while the cylindering sits for at least a year.

And, finally, the bar we are considering gives almost complete airtightness to the walls during construction, they look monolithic due to the joining of the elements by nagels, the rounds, both conventional and rounded, require the walls to be warmed to avoid cold bridges.

Glued round logs as the optimal solution for

If you do not like timber, and you want a traditional log house, but that is both spacious and durable, and without shrinkage, you will probably like a glued round log, the characteristics of which are no differentfrom a similarly produced bar.

The latter is made of lamellas glued from quality boards, the log is also assembled from lamellas, but in fact it turns out that one round log is glued from several others, sawn to the uneven bars. Otsilindrovka is carried out after the final assembly of the log, performed in a hydraulic press of a special design. Annual rings almost never coincide when assembling individual parts, but this only increases the strength of the material.

Due to its strength, the glued log after the rounding process is practically the same as the stone, although the material remains still compliant.

When assembling a house from such a log, you can expect shrinkage of no more than 2% per square meter, which allows you to accurately calculate the margin when installing door lobbies and window frames. In the process of assembling the frame from the glued elements, as a rule, the bowls are insulated, providing reliable thermal insulation of the corners; along the entire length of the rods the laying of the insulation is not necessary, since the density of their joints is extremely high.

Such results are achieved due to the fact that in the production of gluing materials with surfaces of high accuracy are obtained, the errors can reach only a few fractions of a millimeter. Such logs will not crack and deform during the operation of the log house.
