What are the advantages of this type of communication?
As is known, polypropylene, or a material from which products are manufactured, is created by polymerization of propylene and metal catalysts. To obtain this product, the powder and granules are melted and squeezed using a mold.
For reference: polypropylene becomes soft at 1400C, and melts at 1800C.On this basis, they can be safely used for cold and hot water supply, but not for communications with the steam.
Environment in which polypropylene water pipes can be installed:
- environment with aggressive and wet influencing factors;
- In rooms where there is a high level of humidity;
- If there are groundwater in the underground pavement;
But in addition, atmospheric oxygen and ultraviolet rays do not affect the pipes because of the use of stabilizers in their composition. Nevertheless, they should be protected from direct sunlight.
Naturally, polypropylene communications are not so strong as steel ones, and under mechanical influence it should be extremely accurate. But it is worth noting the high wear resistance of the material of polypropylene pipelines and the impossibility of corrosion on water supply systems.
Polypropylene water pipes have the following properties:
- Smoothness of the inner wall of the pipeline, which was resistant to clogs and deposits. Opportunity to resist influences organizational issues in the installation of water supply systems, especially for hot water, since it is during the delivery that various types of deposits on the walls arise.
- The service life is about 100 years. But this is just an assumption, because at the time of their first launch, this deadline has not yet passed.
- Operating temperature. The maximum is 95 ° С.But it is worth considering that if the temperature level increases to 140 ° C, the material will begin to soften and melt.
Size of pipes. The standard length is 4 m, and for a water pipe the diameter varies from 2 to 6.3 cm.
Where should pipes made of polypropylene be used?
Polypropylene pipes can be laid both on the wall and on the floor, installed in all kinds of concealed wall structures, etc.
They are divided into four classes:
- Class of thin-walled - PN 10. Used for water supply and warm floor coverings. Pressure is not more than 1 MPa.
- High pressure class - PN 16. It is used for cold water in high and low pressure systems.
- The class of universal - PN 20. The supported pressure is up to 2 MPa, and the temperature is up to 90 ° С.
- Class of reinforced pipes - PN 25. Reinforced with aluminum foil and used for central heating and able to withstand up to 90 ° C and system pressure up to 2.5 MPa. Also used for cold water.
Fittings for water pipes of polypropylene pipes can be fastened with metal parts, fittings and various sanitary equipment.
Installation of water pipes from polypropylene
Simple and easy to assemble pipes using the main tool, which is called a soldering iron. In addition to it, a pipe cutter or special scissors for cutting, roulette and knife is also useful.
Cut the pipes in place of their mounting, then remove the chamfer from the fitting, which will become an element of joining all the components. The fitting is placed in a soldering iron, and on the other hand the pipe is attached.
There is a certain table that determines the degree of heating of the constituent elements, which determines that overheating can provoke a loss of durability and the appearance of stickiness. The diameter also decreases.
In turn, underheated water pipes polypropylene and fittings must be twisted with pressure. But so, that deformations did not arise, it is necessary to do it accurately. It is extremely worthwhile to be in the welding of ball valves, corners and tees.
