Replacing the gas meter. When and what you need to know
You may need to replace the meter if the defect has been found to be defective or an incorrect operation of the device has been suspected. In addition, problems with the meter can be caused by a violation in the installation technology, improper selection of equipment. The measuring device can be broken for several reasons: 
- The dust filter was not installed correctly or the cells do not comply with the declared standards in the filter. This results in clogging.
- The gas passes through the meter, which contains a large amount of moisture. This can be condensate.
- The measuring device transmits volumes of gas much greater than those for this type of meter.
- The device was originally installed with violations of the rules and process. Therefore, its complete replacement is required.
When buying a new meter, you should always measure the distance between the inlet outlet of the old meter. It is better if this distance on the new device is the same, otherwise it will be necessary to digest the pipes. Also, when buying, we take into account the direction of the gas flow through the counter, in order not to look at the readings "upside down" later. In extreme cases, you can buy special adapters for gas meters. They will save you time to digest pipes and installation with their help will be greatly facilitated.
How to replace the gas equipment
Before you change the meter, you need to know the throughput capacity according to the gas project to your house. If the household already has gas appliances - a boiler, a column, a gas stove, you should first call a consultant who can intelligently count the throughput, determine the location of the device, its direction( from left to right or right to left), will calculate the material, design, costwork on the installation of the measuring instrument, will tell you about the necessary documentation. 
After the specialists of the state gas company or a company that has permission for this type of activity install a gas meter, it is necessary to draw up a sketch of the location of the meter. Further, the sketch is certified in gorgas and regional gas and sealed. At the end of all ordeals, a cover letter will be issued to the settlement center at the owner's residence so that the payment for gas is recalculated from the meter to the readings of the newly installed meter.
Installation of gas filter and hose
Often gas offices require to install a fine filter in front of the gas meter. Usually, the installation of an additional filter is not provided for the project, since gas is supplied to cleaned consumers. In the data sheet on the meter, it is only recommended to install a fine filter when supplying raw gas.
Why do the gas offices so insistently sometimes require the installation of filters? Some conclusions are being made. The first is the ability to charge an additional fee for the maintenance of the filter, its cleaning and replacement. The second is that, because of the filter, the pressure in the pipeline drops, and thanks to this reduction, considerable funds are saved for the benefit of the gas office, also considering the number of gas consumers.
Well, in conclusion, a few words about the hose. Now mainly for connecting plates, columns and other equipment using flexible rubber hoses. From constant contact with methane, rubber wears out quickly, even a metal sheath will not save from leakage, and this is already fraught with an explosive situation. So check the condition of your gas equipment in time.
